queer_fest! cupcakes! two different people named chuck!

Good morning, internet.

***

Here are some things:

1) queer_fest is accepting prompts! queer_fest is the next generation of lgbtfest. It's a cool challenge because the focus is on queer issues and queer identity (I say "queer" because that's my personal catchall word for gay/bi/ace/trans/anything that's not cisgendered straight) rather than solely sex or relationship stuff or whatever. It usually produces a lot of great character-based stuff (and relationship stuff, too, but with more of an emphasis on the queer issues than on falling in love and wooing and such) and it's a cool fest with a lot of thoughtful prompts.

THAT'S WHERE YOU COME IN, FLIST. Only one other person has posted XMFC prompts! That can simply not continue! Go check out the prompts that have already been posted and post your own!

(If anyone is curious, mine are here.)

2) I thought I had more announcements, but maybe that was it.

THERE IS A CRUMBS OPENING UP BY MY WORK. LIKE, RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET. IT IS OPENING UP SOON. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

pocky_slash: This is going to be the greatest day of my life.
brilligspoons: Is it?
pocky_slash: It's going to eclipse the future birth of my children, my future marriage to Carey Mulligan, and probably the day I win the Pulitzer Prize--or, let's be honest, the Newbery.

I AM SO EXCITED. Guys, the cupcakes in Boston SUCK. The "best cupcakes" are apparently this super overpriced place in Cambridge where the cake is dry and the icing is far too sweet. I know I've been spoiled by New York cupcakeries, but $3.25 for a regular sized cupcake? Seriously?

(Kickass Cupcakes is actually not too bad, but still not as good as the various places I've left behind. Not good enough to go out of my way on a regular basis, but worth a trip when their truck is at South Station. They're also expensive, though D:<)

ANYWAY. Crumbs! Right here! I will gain 600 pounds and I don't even care! I just hope the goodness of everything will translate well to Boston.

For those of you who don't follow me on Tumblr (you're seriously not missing much except for 2304829034 pictures of McAvoy and 230948 pictures of Anne-Marie Duff), liveonthesun proposed that tomorrow (Saturday, March 3) should be Charlotte Charles Day! There's more here which I will helpfully copy and paste for you:

SO! i was having a bout of missing pushing daisies this morning and tweeted that i needed to spend saturday dressed up as chuck - bright dress, flashy sunglasses, and making/eating all of the pie. katie said she would, too, so i said something about having a charlotte charles day and posting pics on tumblr, and lexie, kait, jo, and m all jumped on board, too.

SO. TUMBLR. SATURDAY, MARCH 3RD IS NOW OFFICIALLY CHARLOTTE CHARLES DAY.

bust out your most colorful dresses, your gaudiest sunglasses, and your wicked awesome pie-making skills (or pie-eating skills if those are better.) flounce around feeling fabulous and then post pictures to tumblr tagged #charlotte charles day and whatever else you feel like tagging them.

because just because we don’t have pushing daises on our tvs anymore doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have it in our lives.

I will be doing this! You should all do it too! It will be awesome!

This weekend will mostly be cleaning all the things in preparation for FGSP! (and you have like, three days left to RSVP if you haven't already!) and going to Ikea and writing. Theoretically.

I have this idea in my head for old-retired-guy!fic. Where Chuck and Erik are just kinda like, "We're old now. Fuck y'all and this popsicle stand." And they get a little house together in the middle of nowhere and Erik cooks and tries to teach Charles languages the old fashioned way. And they read to each other and argue over politics, but also over stupid things like whether they should have a teevee and whose turn it is to do the laundry. And they basically live out the rest of their lives being grumpy old men in love instead of the faces of the different sides of the mutant cause.

Plus, you know, I have nine million WsiP. So.

Okay. On to doing actual work.
