the spirit of giving back, or whatever. READ THIS IT'S IMPORTANT.

Hey, folks.

I'm going to put aside my normal work day whining for something ~*important*~.

I know that it's the holiday season and the economy is in the tank, so money is tight. But I also know that this time of year tends to bring out the best in people. I know that the holiday spirit, such as it were, inspires people to want to give and want to help, and I'm hoping that's the case here. So if you have a couple dollars and a little time to spare, please read on.

My friend Jenn is a super talented, super awesome person whose family needs a little bit of help right now. Her mom is in need of a heart transplant. She was born with a birth defect called Transposition of the Great Vessels which prevents the blood from receiving the proper oxygen to sustain life. She's had surgeries in the past to deal with it, but for the past year her health has been failing and a heart transplant is the solution.

However, any hospital stay is expensive, even with insurance. Co-pays and travel expenses and costly medications and recovery would be hard enough to cover for someone who is healthy and working, but doctors have advised her to stop working for the sake of her health and there are two college-aged kids to worry about, too.

Jenn and her sister have set up a fundraising campaign to try and offset some of the medical expenses from their mother's transplant. You can donate any amount and it's one of those "every little bit helps" sort of deals. So if you're thinking, "God, I've had way too much caffeine today, maybe I'll skip that fourth cup of coffee," maybe you could donate that $3 here instead. If you have more, that's great! If you can't handle it at this time of year, that's understandable as well.

And here is my part in this. If you donate some money, no matter how much, I will write you a thing. Probably not a long thing, because I have secret_mutant and all that, but a thing. And I know that's probably not much of an incentive, but I believe in positive reinforcement and people seem to like my stories okay, so...yes.

So you can go here to donate and read a little bit more about the whole thing and think about it, and if you do end up contributing, let me know.

Once again, click here to donate, and have a good Friday, guys. ♥

giving back, friends
