my life, ladies and gentlemen
Manager at Panera: How are you, my friend? I haven't seen you much!
Me: I started a new job! Less time to loiter here writing.
Him: Congratsulations! That's wonderful news! Are you feeling okay? You sound hoarse.
Me: Yeah, I don't know where that came from.
Him: It's the changing seasons. The weather's getting chilly--it's easy to get sick. You have a free drink. Would you like a tea or a coffee, something hot for your throat?
Me: No thanks, I'll save it for next time.
Him: Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later, yes?
Me: Probably!
Then he shook my hand and told me he hoped I felt better soon and it was good to see me again. I don't know whether to be embarrassed or to laugh hysterically.
