drive-by recs!
So, I keep meaning to put together a for-real rec list. For now, here are a couple of similarly-themed fics written by people I know who are good at things.
(True fact: Every time I do a rec post, I have to look up past rec posts so I can figure out the format I normally use.)

So, no beach divorce, but things are still stilted and not perfect at the mansion and Charles has to muddle through how to make them better. Featuring a family dinner, prepared by Erik and Angel, Raven being awesome, and Charles and Erik getting their shit together over a chess game.
Except, you know, SO MUCH BETTER THAN I JUST DESCRIBED. Everything feels very true--the way all the characters interact, the awkward tension, Charles' inability to understand why things aren't working the way they should. And the culmination is sexy in a very sweet way. GO READ IT.

How much do I love Erin, guys? SO MUCH. ♥ Another beach-divorce-never-happened fic, where Erik has taken over kitchen duties and likes it more than he'll admit, Charles sends epic memos, Moira and Erik bond over Charles' eccentricities, and Erik starts to allow himself to relax.
The interactions between Moira and Erik are enough for me to beg you to read this fic alone, but also Charles' RIDICULOUS MEMOS and Erik's interactions with the kids and.....everything, omg. It has a quiet humor and affection to it that just made me feel warm and fuzzy while reading it.
So, go read those and comment accordingly. Because I demand it. ::shakes fist::
