"You've... redecorated," Canton said, carefully stepping around one of the dozens of mewling kittens crawling around the console room of the TARDIS. It seemed like the best way to address the fact that there were more significantly more felines than humans--or whatever the Doctor was--occupying the room.
Rory rolled his eyes, but Canton caught the way he affectionately and gently nudged one with his foot as he walked further into the room. Amy just reached down and scooped one of them into her arms.
"Well," she said, "there was a lot going on. Some things happened, Rory and I took a little break, and I think the Doctor got a little lonely."
"I did not!"
Canton looked around, but he didn't see the Doctor anywhere. Although... the pile of cats up on the glass-floored platform seemed to be moving. Canton watched as the Doctor slowly sat up, still covered in kittens, grinning madly.
"It's brilliant, isn't it? Of course it's brilliant. Isn't it brilliant, Mr. Fluffenstein?" The Doctor raised an orange tabby to his face until they were touching noses. "Who wants to go to the catnip planet? Who wants to go to the catnip planet?"
"We do!" Amy said, holding out the cat in her arms. Both she and the Doctor turned to Rory and Canton expectantly.
"We do too," Rory said, with a sigh, leaning down to stroke the head of the grey kitten weaving in and out of his legs.
"What the hell," Canton said with a shrug, kneeling and attracting the attention of three nearby kittens, one of which immediately jumped onto his back. After all, it was hardly the strangest thing that had happened with the Doctor. "Catnip planet it is."
