UGH, SHERLOCK FANDOM, STOP USING THE WORD "BROMANCE!" IT MAKES ME SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE IN ITS VAGUE HOMOPHOBIA!

I know the creators have used it, but we're better than them! That's why we're in fandom!

The words "gen" or "friendship" convey the same thing, but without the implied "because ACTUAL romance between two dudes isn't cool!" that comes part and parcel with the word "bromance."

And I understand that this is a fandom that is not only young as a fandom but filled with people who are young as fans--maybe not in age, but in their time in fandom, but we should be trying to shepherd them away from this sort of thinking. I'm not saying that they should all write John/Sherlock as text or that fandom should be filled with only John/Sherlock porn or mushy badfic or what have you, but there's a reason fandom has its own terminology--mainstream terminology sucks. And this is an example of that.

Learn the lingo, kids! Stop using that douchey word. And, while you're at it, get off of my lawn and turn down that blasted music!

Yeah, okay. Obviously I need to sleep. IN OTHER NEWS: today I built flat surfaces while mcwonthelottery peppered me with vague criticism and verbal abuse. Because we are Ianto and Owen in real life, and it's kind of scary.

Also, there was a bear in our washing machine.

And a bacon war.

Pretty much, it's been a full day here at Cardigan Central.

rant, i fucking hate the word bromance, cardigan central, sherlock, fandom
