various and sundry (but really ala awards and charity)

So, remember back in like, July, when I read When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead and told you it was extraordinary and you should all read it and it was going to win the Newbery? Remember when I put it on all of my end-of-year superlative lists and talked about it on two memes as "a book you dudes should read?"

REMEMBER WHEN IT WON THE FUCKING NEWBERY AWARD THIS MORNING?

THAT'S RIGHT, BITCHES! Two years in a ROW! I need to find a way to make money off of these predictions. I also correctly predicted the Printz Award and one Printz Honor and one Newbery Honor. I don't even try to predict the Caldecott award because a) I know nothing about art and b) I cannot ever understand what they use to judge that shit. But The Lion and the Mouse is gorgeous, and All The World made me cry buckets when I first read it. I love Marla Frazee's illustration style. (Also, the Sibert award went to my faaaaavorite bio of last year, Almost Astronauts. So, yay!)

Anyway. If you haven't already, this should be your wake-up call to READ WHEN YOU REACH ME. THERE IS TIME TRAVEL, GUYS. I have a copy, if you need to borrow one and your library doesn't have it because of the post-Newbery rush (is there such a thing? I wish there was.).

Just a reminder, dudes, I have two things up at help_haiti. The awesome cookie jar is up to $30. The Torchwood or West Wing fic of your choice is at $5.

Lots of other awesome people are offering lots of other awesome things! Go over there and poke around! And, if you're getting outbid on a lot of stuff but still want to donate this way, there's always the lightning round.

I am working on a fic! I feel like now that I no longer have that awful Christmas story hanging over my head, I AM FREE. I am working on the companion-ish piece to Forty-Eight Hour Stand-down, which is essentially a role-reversal. But with Ianto. And awkward relationship talk. And cocoa.

FUCK YEAH, WHEN YOU REACH ME! GUYS I LOVE THAT BOOK SO MUCH! :D :D :D
