Sam had left, gone to California and lived his dream just like the President had always talked about, words falling from his mouth like honey. She had never even considered the possibility of it, that there was a way to flee her gilded, sarcastic cage. She had never even thought that she wanted to.
It had been liberating, in the way that the first campaign had been liberating. She wasn’t really happy, but she was free. And then one night there was Will. It wasn’t that he was asking, and she wasn’t saying yes but for the first time she realized that the possibility existed. That was it’s own kind of liberation.
Just when she thought she could learn to live like this, cold and on the edge, Josh came back. She turned to him like a flower to the sun, and was so thankful that it still shone.

But you've captured it all so beautifully here. The frustration and the surprise of finding out she wasn't shackled to Josh. The joy at finding him again. It's awesome ♥
