FANGIRL DINNER PARTY!

Dec 13, 2009 23:23

Oh, Internet! FANGIRL DINNER PARTY! was so frigging awesome, I can't even describe it.

Before I get into a recap, let me start off by saying a big THANK YOU to quatredeathlady, harmonyangel, neurotictealeaf, saidlian_nataly and emmelinemae for coming down for FDP! It was great to see all of you and I hope you had as great a time as I did. (And WE TOTALLY MISSED YOU, inoccidous ♥ ♥ ♥)

SO! quatredeathlady was nice enough to come over on Friday night to help with set-up. I made her drive all over creation with me to find shoes, but I found some at Kohl's! Nicole bought shoes, too, but they were not for FDP!, they were just regular-like shoes. Afterwards, we came home, made a shopping list, and went out to Pathmark where I was six dollars off on my food estimate! Awesome!

We got home a little after midnight. I started making the chocolate chip pie and showed Nicole how to make Twice Baked Potatoes, which she, you know, then did. We got everything else ready for the next day and went to bed. I had the intention of waking up early to run a few more errands before I started to clean and cook. I actually managed to get up before my alarm (Nicole slept for another two hours XP), which ended up being a good thing when EVERY LINE AT EVERY STORE WAS RIDICULOUSLY LONG.

I eventually got back home and started making the roast and the peas while instructing Nicole on how to make the carrots. We took a quick break for lunch + liquor store and then went right back to preparing food.

Then I looked up and it was 4:30.

Oh man, guys. I have no idea what happened in that last half hour between 4:30 and 5:00. I ran around like a crazy person trying to clean. Nicole... I don't even know WHAT she did, but it was awesome and it left us not as behind as we would have been otherwise. When harmonyangel arrived, I was just getting changed. Nicole ran up and got changed after me and by the time everyone else arrived, we were almost on top of things.

It was a good party! Everyone looked so super classy! The food was pretty good! Everyone got along! The cocktails were awesome! During dinner, we talked about the fandom things we were thankful for and narrowly avoided a ship war at the dinner table! (There was a "no wank" rule.) After dinner, we went into the living room and wrote down all the episodes of our shows that we wanted to watch and then threw them into a bucket!

We watched:
School Reunion (Doctor Who)
65 Million Years Off (Psych)
Freefall (White Collar)
Our Mrs. Reynolds (Firefly)
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (Torchwood)
Somebody's Going to Emergency, Somebody's Going to Jail (The West Wing)
April is the Cruelest Month (Sport's Night)
An Echolls Family Christmas (Veronica Mars)

It was wonderful! We took breaks for desserts and more drinks and babbling. After White Collar, the room exploded with speculation and squee. Rachael and Caitlin had never seen it before and they became instant fans. Rachael totally understands why Peter, Neal, and Elizabeth bought the bakery from Toby, guys. Also, everyone was really patient with me during "School Reunion" and SGTESGTJ, considering my habit of shouting the names of characters I love and flailing my hands wildly in the air. I can't help it, guys! I love Sarah Jane Smith! And the entire TWW senior staff!

The themes of the night were compulsive liars, boyfriend fights, and MANPAIN. SO MUCH MANPAIN, GUYS! And basically every show also had a boyfriend fight. Clearly we know what we like.

Around three or so we turned off the teevee, but we kept talking for another hour and a half before bed. Everyone retired to my upstairs, where we passed out until morning.

End: FANGIRL DINNER PARTY!

Begin: FANGIRL HASTILY ASSEMBLED BRUNCH!

Nicole and I woke up around the same time and Caitlin soon joined us. We had leftovers for dinner. Well, potatoes and cookies, at least. Rachael joined us for discussions of cats and dental work as I cleaned up, and Jen eventually came down, too! It was very relaxed and fun, and I was sorry to see everyone go when the going time came.

And I asked a girl out on a date and she didn't say no and now the PANIC is setting in because, oh my god, guys, I am so bad at this and also SO AWKWARD.

Ahem.

There were a million hilarious and awesome quotes over the course of the night, but I think the winner was harmonyangel when John Hart appeared on screen in KKBB and she asked, "Is he in a marching band?"

I just started laughing again, typing that. She also said something hilarious over dinner, but I can't remember what it was, only that she won the internets because of it.

Tragically, I didn't take any pictures. Nicole took a few, and hopefully she will send them to me eventually (hinthint).

After everyone left, I took a hot shower (due to circumstances that... will not be explored in this LJ entry, I stood out in the rain in galoshes and no socks and no hat for about twenty minutes and while it was lovely, it was also a POOR LIFE CHOICE and I was freezing when I came back inside.) and cleaned up the rest of the mess. I took my mom to The Bookstore for the end of employee bribery week and then I watched A Muppet Christmas Carol with her.

(I always cry when Beaker gives Scrooge the scarf.)

IN CONCLUSION, fun was had by all and we all agreed that another FANGIRL DINNER PARTY! is imminent. Don't fret if you missed this one, guys! I think we're all excited by the possibility of doing it again in the spring. Maybe it won't be fancy pants, but it might be THEMED. Wouldn't that be awesome? Like, the theme could be "People Who Are Not Who They Seem" and we could watch "Jaynestown" and "Boomtown" and "Celebrities" and basically any episode of Psych and whatever anyone can come up with. Or "Backstory" and we could watch ITSOTG and "Dalek" and "Outcast" and "Fragments" and "Out of Gas." AND, OH MY GOD, GUYS, I COULD TRY AND THEME THE FOOD! :O :O :O

Um, anyway, keep your eyes open for future FANGIRL DINNER PARTY! events. Everyone on the internet is invited, as usual.

Now I'm going to choose something to watch (all my dvds are still down here) and write a little bit before passing out. I'm exhausted. I walked into a shelf peg during the twenty minutes I was at The Bookstore and managed to stab myself in the eyelid and give myself a headache. AWESOME.

nj!jen, quotes, caitlin needs a tag too, fangirl dinner party!, nicole, rachael, friends
