Spent pretty much the entire morning crying on and off. ASM H (my favorite ASM) politely confronted me about my chronic lateness this month and I essentially broke down. It was good times. She is very sympathetic to my craziness and made it clear that she was only asking because she knows that I'm a dedicated employee and wants to make sure I'm not, you know, crazy, but it was still a little... yeah.
Anyway. So that was my day. Have a meme.
Name a fandom, and I will tell you my:

I'm DVRing NCIS and NCIS: Gayer and in California. I do not know when I will have time to watch them--I still need to watch Psych, Dollhouse, The Office and Flashforward. I will get to it?
I have given up on Glee. I'm just...not feeling the love. I'm sorry, internet. I really, really wanted to like it :(

So, pretty much the only thing I have been doing for awhile now is reading? Both books and fic, but more frequently fic, because I need stuff that's going to be happy and hit all my reading kinks, and it's easier to judge that with fic than with books. All you have to do is put "[fandom] [pairing] fluff" into Delicious and a whole bunch of things magically appear, pre-screened for your reading pleasure!
Anyway, totally, completely by accident, while I was searching for something else, I managed to stumble upon the best Ianto fic ever. ohmygod. I know I am late to the party on this, probably, since the story is over a year old and I only just began admitting I was even reading TW fic--oh, two months ago?--but still. I must rec it!
Potentiality (Or: How I Learned To Loathe The Quantum Bomb) by
bjewelled The author's summary is thus: Somewhere between “Countrycide” and “Captain Jack Harkness”, Ianto Jones went from hardly knowing how to hold a gun to be willing and able to use it. How did he get there, and what did he have to sacrifice in the process?
After "Countrycide," Jack confronts Ianto and asks him what he wants out of Torchwood, if he wants to do more or just be a coffeeboy for the rest of his life. When Ianto admits to liking his taste of field work and aspiring to greater responsibilities, Jack starts to groom him to learn all of Torchwood's secrets, secure in the knowledge that one day, the Doctor will come, and Jack will need to make sure that Torchwood is in capable hands before he leaves. He sends Ianto off to UNIT for training. About half the story is Ianto trying to parse out where he stands with Jack and with himself, what he really wants, and who he is now. The other half is Ianto getting pulled into the middle of a massive crisis that involves several elements of his past.
This Ianto kicks ass. He's smart and sharp and scared shitless, but he manages to hide it all behind a no-nonsense exterior to get the job done. When he cracks, it's behind closed doors and it's logical and heartbreaking, but not the weepy!Ianto this fandom seems so fond of.
There are vague beginnings to his relationship with Jack and references to other canon relationships, but it's mostly a gen story. The original characters--UNIT officers that Ianto is training with--are amazingly cool. It's about 45000 words long, but well worth the read.

So. That's what I've been doing. Anyway, I'm going to go to the bank and then have a shower and an early night. And maybe a doughnut. Nothing like drowning your sorrows in fried dough covered in sugar!
