home again, home again...

Oh man, guys, I got home and read all your nice comments on my last post and started to cry again, because I am a loser :(

I really did 100% have a good time on my trip up until yesterday, and I feel bad for Jenna because I've moaning and groaning and throwing little internet tantrums when I honestly had a really fantastic weekend at her place, but... oh, yesterday was bad. I am still sore and nauseous today and I have eight million holes in my arms because I am "valve-y" and they couldn't get an IV in right, and I'm really pissed off that not only did I not get to be there like I was going to be, but I didn't even get to watch it. We listened to the swearing in on the way home, but I was high as a kite and I don't remember much of it at all :(

My dad DVRed the whole thing and I am going to watch it later tonight, but it's not the same. I know I should just be happy that eight years of bullshit are over and the guy that I have been rooting for since 2004 is in office, but mostly I am just devastated that I didn't get to be a part of it at all, not even to watch.

UGH. HAPPY THOUGHTS. HAPPY THOUGHTS.

So, like I said above, I had a great time at Jen's. I got to her apartment at almost the exact moment she got home from work. We settled in and had dinner and watched Jeopardy! and then eight hundred hours of Food Network and What Not to Wear and that Miss America reality show that is addicting like crack. Bedtime, then Saturday came and we went out for lunch and went... somewhere else? Shopping maybe? Yes! We went shopping so Jen could get long underwear and I ended up buying some sweaters at Old Navy. Then we settled in for SORKINFEST 2009.

So named, because basically all we did for the rest of the weekend was watch TWW and Sports Night. OH MAN. We skipped all over! We started with "Inauguration Part 1" and "Inauguration: Over There," then did "Privateers"-"Evidence of Things Not Seen." Then we jumped to S2 and watched "17 People" and... a couple others that I can't remember right now. But we ended TWW with "Let Bartlet Be Bartlet." Because. Aw.

"We're gonna raise the level of debate in this country, and let that be our legacy."

I just. Chills, guys. CHILLS.

We then went out to the store again (this is Sunday, now) because we made comprehensive lists of everything we'd need for Tuesday (sigh) and had to pick up some more stuff. We had lunch at IHOP, where we talked about how much we love The West Wing (answer: a lot) and how it is basically the best show ever, how awesome the fandom used to be, how we would start up the Jeds again if we weren't so lazy, et cetera.

Guys, pretty much all we did all weekend was talk about TWW, no lie. (Or, okay, we also talked about Sports Night and my original fic. Jen is my fangirl. It is a special relationship.)

At home we started Sports Night. I think? Maybe that was Monday? Either way, we went through the first 17 or so episodes, and it was awesome! We loaded up the rest of S1 onto my iPod for Tuesday (sigh) and went to bed early!

Tuesday will have it's own post, because I know you are all dying to know how much contrast!juice they made me drink before my CT scan (spoiler alert! A lot!)

Here is the thing about hanging out with Jen, guys: IT WAS AWESOME. I mean, I'm sure that was implied throughout the post, but I thought I'd just spell it out for you. I'm a little more tin-hatty about Sam/Will than she is, but other than that we have like, crazy similar opinions on the show. I never once felt awkward when I randomly blurted out, "OH JED!" or clutched my chest at a good part or said "Awwww!" or "They love each other so much!" or anything like that. IT WAS AWESOME. It was a perfect Sorkin-watching experience. There's just something about watching the show with someone who loves it down to the core the way you do, someone else who will always think of it as "their show."

The West Wing is my show, guys. It has been since S1 and it's been off the air for three years and it still is. And other shows come and go and I love them and I throw myself into them and I am totally all about them, but they will never unlock the piece of my heart devoted to this show and these characters. And Jen totally gets that.

(Also, she both allowed and encouraged me to talk out every single character plot in my original universe(s). All of them! And that is nice, sometimes! Also, I may have accidentally made her cry when I let her read the shooting portion of my NaNo novel. Whoops? But, really, given the chance I would babble on for pages and pages about how happy this makes me and how much this means to me, but I am always afraid that talking about my original characters like that makes me sound narcissistic. Um, but I love them and I can't express in words how happy I am that she loves them too ♥)

All in all, I would rate Friday-Monday A+++ and Tuesday a solid D. It was awful, but it could have been worse.

Anyway. I am cold and my mom made me some broth to try and eat, so I am going to do that. I will, perhaps, write about MY EXCITING VISIT TO THE FAIRFAX, VA EMERGENCY ROOM later tonight.

sorkin, inauguration, jen is awesome!, obama, sports night, tww
