bookstore, et cetera.

Good evening, internet. I've been at work all day and I'm kind of exhausted. I want to write fic and some novel-y things and I want to do a book post (so many good pictures books in the past month or so!) because I haven't done one of those in awhile and I want to post pictures of the adorable mini-cupcakes I made yesterday, but more than any of that I want to lie on the couch and not move ever again.

Unfortunately, my parents are home and watching teevee, which means that I have about fifteen minutes of sitting here left before I have to go either into the den or out of the house to escape the noise of my father watching teevee. Right now the volume is manageable, but he's still surfing and he just pulled out a snack, so it should be going up any moment now.

Today I bought a copy of Peter Sís' book The Wall because it's amazing. It was a Caldecott honor this year, and if any book other than Hugo Cabret had won the actual Cadlecott medal, I would have been disappointed that The Wall didn't get it. If that makes any sense. It's beautiful and brilliant and I was describing it to a co-worker and decided that, after reading it and examining it more closely several times, I had to bite the bullet and actually buy it.

Jesus Christ, this goddamn bookstore job is making me poor.

It's way too late to take a nap, but I don't see anything else getting done tonight if I don't get some sleep. I don't have to go into work until four tomorrow, so I might be able to pull it off, but I'd have to make the decision now-ish.

But first I have to post a hilarious AIM conversation in my writing journal. For fun times.
