One fandom survey and one randomly about my life. Today I saw Sweeney Todd with
quatredeathlady and hung out with Leslie, briefly. I will post more about the movie later. For now, memes.
1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Graduated from college. I did a lot of things that I've never done before, but that was the biggest, I think.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I just checked in my LJ to see if I made any and I don't think I did.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not very close to me, no.
5. What countries did you visit?
The US and Canada.
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Money. A stable relationship. Friends I can count on. (I had some friends I could count on in 2007, but more disappointments than I would have liked.) Inspiration. Time.
7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 18th and 19th. Graduation.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Graduation. Sorry if I sound like a broken record, but it was a big deal XD Also, I wrote more this year than I ever have.
9. What was your biggest failure?
My personal life. On so many levels.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
AIDSSTROKE. Also, the regular track of sinus infections and colds. I had my wisdom teeth out, too. That was a bucket of laughs.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I didn't actually buy my computer myself, but I would say that it's definitely the best thing.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Many people's. I can't think of anyone specifically.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Again, several people, although all the ones I'm thinking of left me more depressed than appalled.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Nothing out of the ordinary. Groceries, books, clothes.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Graduation, trips I made to see people, HP7, my teevee shows.
16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Albums, more than songs, but Barenaked Ladies Are Men, Surprise, The Beauty of the Rain, Begin to Hope and Say I Am You. Also, "The Obvious Child."
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder: Happier, I guess. Not happy, per se, but without the stresses of my academic life, I'm more adept at handling the stresses of my personal life.
thinner or fatter: About the same.
richer or poorer: Richer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing, hanging out with people.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Letting myself be mistreated by people I trusted.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Slept in, opened presents, went to my aunt's house for dinner, watching CSI and SG-1.
22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Not really. I mean, I fell in love with teevee shows and characters and books and shit, but... yeah.
23. How many one-night stands?
None.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
SGA, Dexter, Studio 60, Pushing Daisies, 30 Rock, Eureka, Psych as far as new programs go. I'm still hopelessly attached to my TWW and Firefly dvds.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not really. It takes a lot for me to hate people. I'm disappointed in a lot of people.
26. What was the best book you read?
OLIVA HELPS WITH CHRISTMAS I read a ton of books. Maybe The Realm of Possibility or I Am America! (And So Can You!) or Smitten or any manner of books I carried around.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
The Weepies, probably. I will forever associate them with SGA because that's how I discovered them, and SGA has been one of the saving graces of my year.
28. What did you want and get?
To graduate. Also, this computer.
29. What did you want and not get?
Loyalty.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Was Stranger Than Fiction this year? Maybe that or Hot Fuzz. Or even I Am Legend. I don't get out to the movies much.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 22. I went out with my friends for dinner and ice cream. It was nice.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Emotional stability, fewer neuroses.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
I don't know if I had a concept. Business casual, for the most part, because of where I've been working, both in the beginning of the year and now. I got rid of a TON of my clothes from high school and kind of gave up the "baggy t-shirts and ill-fitting jeans" look.
34. What kept you sane?
Friends, teevee, the internet.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Kate Hewlett. I'M SHAMELESS ABOUT IT SORRY.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I'm gonna have to go with women's health issues, just because I was so immersed in it for so long this year.
37. Who did you miss?
Most of the people either mentioned or alluded to throughout this entry. (Stole this answer, but it's appropriate.)
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Leslie,
leupagus, Lauren.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
Don't trust anyone overly much, it just leads to being heartbroken.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Movies, TV screens reflect just what you expected
There’s a world of shiny people somewhere else
Out there following their bliss
living easy, getting kissed
while you wonder what else you’re doing wrong

What fandoms did you acquire in 2007?
Doctor Who, Eureka, Pushing Daisies, and I'm going to put SGA here too. Even though I technically started at the end of 2006, I didn't really get into it until 2007.
What fandoms did you let go of in 2007?
BSG, House, VMars, Studio 60
What fandoms did you mean to get into but didn't in 2007?
The Office, Chuck, Reaper, a few others.
What fandoms do you intend to check out in 2008?
Discworld, maybe some of the above. There are a few movie fandoms I'm interested in, too.
What fandoms do you think you might let go of unless things significantly improve in 2008?
Eureka.
What fandoms do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?
TWW (even though it's over), SGA (too, too much fun)
What show impressed you most in 2007?
Pushing Daisies was FAB, and I have been continually impressed with the direction SGA is taking in S4. Plus, S3 was a barrel of homoerotic funtimes.

There's a year in fic meme, but I do so many little ficlets that it's hard to get everything together. We'll see. For now I'm going to finish this disc of Firefly and go to bed.
