When Jennifer tells her the news (because it's Jennifer now. After all of that it has to be.), she makes sure Teyla is comfortable and give her a glass of water. She keeps a basin ready, and Teyla does not understand until the words leave her mouth, until she's processing them, and then she feels it, the cold twist in her stomach, and she vomits and vomits and vomits.
Teyla spends the next two days sleeping, both in the infirmary and in her own bed. Jennifer tells everyone she's still recovering and they all seem to believe it, although Colonel Carter comes by personally and seems to understand that there is more at work.
Jennifer comes by too, right before she leaves to visit her father.
"I just... god, Teyla. I'm so sorry. About..." She gestures futilely, then covers her face with her hands. "We'll find him. We'll find all of them, I promise, I'll do everything... everything I can..."
It is Jennifer who starts to cry, little hiccoughing sobs, and Teyla gets up and pulls her towards the bed, stroking her hair. She can't find it within herself to cry, not yet. The shock and anger and fear are too strong to let the grief set in.
She kisses Jennifer on the forehead, which is a sign of the most intimate friendship between her people. On Atlantis, it is only her team who have earned this privilege so far, and she has never explained what it meant. Jennifer sobs and shifts and suddenly the kiss isn't on the forehead anymore.
But it still seems right. It seems like the comfort Jennifer needs, so Teyla kisses back, runs her hand down Jennifer's thigh, licks into the heat of her mouth. She pushes her back onto the bed and unbuttons her blouse and her pants and breathes against her skin until Teyla can feel her own tears running down her face, until she loses track of who is comforting who.
