The idea was just sitting in my head for the past week. Written with BoA's 'Control' on repeat.
Mir watched it, seething. He couldn't stand it. He wanted to march in and take his friend away, to get him away from this. But no, that wouldn't do. It wasn't his place. His brother-in-law would fry his sorry butt if he tried anything that was going through his head right then and there.
He bit his lip and glanced at his groupmates, wondering if they felt the same. Thunder looked completely oblivious, simply watching and occasionally nodding. G.O. simply looked deeply concentrated. Seungho was worrying, but he always worried.
Mir turned his eyes back to where Jihoon-hyung watched Joon dancing, the resident charisma being pushed to his limits while his groupmates simply watched. Mir could see Joon's movements slowing, obviously exhausted for the day but still pushing on next to Jihoon-hyung, who was easily ripping apart every little move, scolding and berating.
Fists clenching, Mir's teeth ground into each other. Joon was easily the best dancer in the group and he was exhausted, still not fully recovered from all the stupid problems he'd run into. Why was Jihoon-hyung doing this?
After what felt like an eternity, Jihoon-hyung held up a large hand, shaking his head a bit. “We're done here.” He told the room at large, zipping his jacket and simply walking away. Mir watched his figure exit in disbelief. What was going on with Jihoon-hyung? It wasn't like him to be this harsh, especially on Joon...
Speaking of Joon, his eyes switched over to where the older boy had slumped into a chair, panting and nodding thanks to Thunder, who'd just handed him a water bottle. Mir joined the group as Joon dumped half the bottle on himself before gulping down the rest. “Whew...” Joon panted. “That...was intense.”
“You did a great job.” Thunder told him with one of those annoyingly innocent smiles that made Mir want to smack him. Joon had performed fabulously, but Thunder didn't seem too concerned with the fact that he'd nearly collapsed.
“Thanks~” Joon nodded, smiling back at Thunder and then grinning at Mir. “How was I, Mir?” He asked brightly, wiping sweat away from his eyes.
Mir stared at him for a moment and then the words just came slipping out. “Why do you let him do that to you?”
The question surprised Joon and he blinked up at Mir from where he was perched on the chair. “What are you talking about?”
“This whole crap that Hyung's putting you through!” Mir exclaimed. “What's his problem? I didn't think he was that stupid!”
“Mir!” Seungho hissed approaching with G.O. “Will you keep it down?”
Mir rolled his eyes, not caring who heard him. “Whatever... Hyung was being an asshole.” He replied in a harsh whisper. Joon and Thunder both looked perplexed, having never seen Mir this angry. Seungho placed a hand on the magnae's shoulder.
“Mir, now is not the time.” He was told firmly and he simply frowned, shaking away the other's hand.
“Fine, ignore that Joonie's still sort of sick and exhausted and Hyung just worked him over!” There were several voices raised in protest until Joon quickly held up a hand. They all feel silent as Joon, to Mir's surprise, just smiled.
“Mir, you're so cute when you're concerned.” Joon told him brightly, reaching up to mess with Mir's hair. “But I'm fine and Hyung's just looking to make sure that he's got the best of the best.”
Mir opened his mouth to protest again but Joon stood, laying a finger over his lips. “Sssh.” Joon grinned at the whole group. “We did good today, Mir-mir~. Don't spoil it for the others.” Joon stepped back, grabbing a towel and declaring "I get the first shower!” and racing off, Thunder in hot pursuit.
Mir was at a loss for words as he realized that the two oldest members were still watching him. “What?” He asked, flushing and looking at the empty water bottle sitting nearby.
“I know you mean well, Mir...But you'll just upset Joonie if you do that.” Seungho told him, smiling understandingly.
“How can you just stand there and watch?” Mir asked, frowning. “You know just as well as I do tha--”
G.O. nudged him, shaking his head. “We know, Mir.” He told him. “But Joon accepts it. He actually sort of likes it.”
“Joonie told me that he thought the reason Hyung was being so harsh was just because he doesn't want to seem like he has a favorite.”
Mir growled a little. “That's such a stu--”
Seungho gave him a look that had him shutting up quickly. “Whatever the reason is, it's not our place to question it. Joonie's dealing with it and he is the only person who should be saying anything on the subject. Now please drop it, Mir.”
Mir simply nodded. G.O slung an arm over his shoulder, grinning. “Chin up, Magnae~” He told the youngest.
Mir smiled and walked away with G.O. But he couldn't hide the fact that he was still bothered by this all.
He felt a little better after he got through the shower, thinking more calmly as he toweled his hair off. There was one thing that bothered him. Joon's reasons were still just silly. If anyone should be worried about favoritism, it wasn't Joon, for all that he was named the mini-Rain, it was Mir, who had 'parachuted' his way into this group.
Mind lost, he headed out, tugging his jacket on. As he rounded a corner, he realized he must have taken a wrong shortcut and was heading down some hallways. He heard a voice, vague, but distinct enough for Mir to know it was Joon. Mir still wanted to talk to Joon, so he headed down the hallway. He was almost to the next turn when Joon spoke again.
“Hyuuuuung!” Joon...moaned?
Mir stepped halfway around the corner and froze for a split second before yanking himself back around the corner, thankful that he didn't fall over in his haste. The other two inhabitants hadn't noticed his intrusion, and while a huge part of him said to just leave, Mir couldn't resist, peeking around the corner and then he was too frozen to move.
Jihoon-hyung had Joon pinned to a wall, the smaller male's legs wrapped around his waist, lips locked together except for an occasional noise from Joon. Shirts lay discarded on the floor and Mir blushed as he realized that hands were going places, Joon's to bury in the older man's hair, Jihoon-hyung's...going elsewhere.
“Hyung!” Joon moaned again and Mir found his mouth covered. Glancing up in surprise, Mir found himself dragged back by a very unhappy Seungho.
His leader didn't let go until they were far away and Mir had nearly bitten him five times. Mir flailed and jerked away. “What are you doing?” He hissed.
“Are you okay?” Seungho asked abruptly.
Mir just blinked for a moment, still too shell-shocked and surprised at everything, his thoughts swirling. He couldn't get the image of Joon plastered to their hyung out of his mind, couldn't get his moan out of his ears. He leaned back against the wall and closed his eyes, shaking his head as Seungho asked again. He was not going to be okay...
He hadn't realized until that moment just how much Joon really meant to him. And now he did and it hurt, because now he also knew who mattered the most to Joon.
Seungho's arms were wrapping around him and Mir buried his face in his leader's shoulder, letting his sorrow sweep over him, those strong arms keeping him steady. “H-hyung...” He sobbed. “Wh-what do I do?”
Seungho just held him, stroking his hair, not having an answer for that. “Shhh, Cheolyong...”
Mir clutched onto Seungho, a million memories bombarding his mind every second. The past two years of memories, of Joon. The feelings that had slowly built from affection and admiration to something so strong but something he hadn't seen until now. Now that he knew he couldn't have the other.
And he didn't know how to deal with it.
