Untitled (bc YOU KNOW WHAT I REALLY HATE TITLING THINGS SO THERE) Ebi/HSJ - Hashimoto/Takaki 267 words, PG, canon It's not quite how they thought it'd turn out. (Set during their seishun amigo stage on shokura)
[Notes]This is just me trying to clean out my WIP folder (I actually trashed something like 40+ ones that just weren't ever going to get written lmao XD;;) SO YEAH. Old school~
They stood in the wings, waiting for the film crew to reposition themselves, the crowd a faint chatter from beyond the curtains. Takaki's smile trembled as he turned to Hashimoto, looking almost as nervous as he had back during their first JJ Express stage. Mostly he found this endearing - it wasn’t like they hadn’t rehearsed their thirty second stage; it wasn’t as if this was being broadcasted live.
“Don’t break the mic,” he reminded the man, bumping shoulders with him in an attempt to ease some of the tension.
Takaki nearly dropped the mic instead, laughing sheepishly though he grimaced a moment later. “Sorry.”
“It’s fine.”
Takaki still frowned though, glancing up at Hashimoto through his bangs, all nerves and hesitance. “Hey, Hasshi… I know this isn't how we planned it but this is okay, isn't it?"
This could mean a number of things and Hashimoto blinked at him in apprehension, dearly hoping something hadn’t changed with the performance without his knowing. “What do you mean?”
"Being on stage together," Takaki clarified, much to his relief, though wasn’t that something to think about.
Hashimoto thought of years long past. Things had been simpler, they had been younger, with promises that neither of them could have kept. Nothing had panned out the way they had so desperately wanted, and yet Hashimoto couldn’t imagine it being any other way. Takaki had JUMP, he had ABC-Z, and yet… well, weren’t they going on the stage together again?
His laugh was full and easy as he reached out to take Takaki's hand, squeezing it gently. "Yeah... This is okay, Yuuyan."
