Filming for THEY Budou’s first episode on Takichan wraps up without incident, but Yamamoto can’t help but think that something isn’t right.
It might have to do that once the last cut was called, Ryu hasn’t said a single word. For Yamamoto’s group, that is definitely weird.
Eda and Hayashi have already cleared out, making plans to grab dinner together on their way home. Ryu is grabbing his change of clothes and stuffing them in his bag with remarkable vigor. The scowl on his face is also unusual.
“Hey,” Yamamoto grins, padding over. “What did the clothes ever do to you?”
Ryu seems to ignore him, not even looking up as he tries to find the missing sock of his pair.
Something is definitely off.
“Ryu?”
The other boy continued to hunt for his sock, seeming to not even hear Yamamoto’s call.
“Ryu, what’s wrong?” Yamamoto’s alarmed at this point, fidgeting awkwardly in the middle of the room as he stares at Ryu’s back.
There’s silence as Ryu pauses before slowly turning around. He’s not scowling anymore, but there’s this expression that Yamamoto can only describe as disappointment and he realizes his heart’s suddenly, inexplicably in his throat. “I just wish you’d pay attention more.”
“What?” Blinking, Yamamoto tilts his head in confusion. “… You’re not still mad about me saying Yaracchi, are you? I can’t help it, Ryu, it’s the question they asked!”
Ryu just gives him this look for a few moments and Yamamoto is hard pressed not to flail in confusion.
But then Ryu smiles, shaking his head and looking away. Walking over, he gently bops Yamamoto over the head. “I just wish you’d realize how much more there is.”
Before Yamamoto can ask him what he means by that, Ryu’s shouldered his bag, waving over his shoulder as he whisks out the door.
More silence is in the room as Yamamoto touches his cheeks, wondering when Ryu will stop making him feel like a child.
