Harris stepped out onto the platform slowly. This was the very stop he used to get off at every morning before he was fired.
"Today, asshole!" A man sneered at Harris, who blinked into focus realizing that he was blocking one of the exits. Harris looked at the man whom glared back at him in disgust. Harris moved out of the way quickly and made his way up the stairs out of the subway station.
There weren't any clouds in the sky and the sun was glaring at Harris like the obnoxious man did just moments before. Reaching the top of the stairs, Harris was on the surface now and looking around at the buildings that seemed to be closing in on him.
Harris didn't recognize any of it. Burnham was a city that was everchanging and it seemed to do so whether Harris was a part of it or not.
"What am I doing here?" Harris found himself asking. The loss of Harris' son kept him locked up in his house for the past few years; though he had finally built up the courage to leave in search of something familiar, Harris found nothing.
The city that he once felt so alive in was gone and even if it wasn't, "I still don't know where I would go..." He said before stumbling back down the subway stairs.
