Pairing/Characters: Takaki/Daiki and just Hikaru.
Summary: Daiki kept something from Hikaru.
It is Christmas Eve and this average sized penguin look alike person, Arioka Daiki, is going to meet up with the goofy guy, Yaotome Hikaru, at the café they regularly visited. Daiki and Hikaru are close buddies since young, childhood friends to be exact.
So, on this day, Daiki is going to collect his present for his childish boyfriend, Takaki Yuya. And Hikaru’s just being a kind soul, to accompany his small friend to collect it.
Takaki is Hikaru’s classmate and Daiki’s school mate in University and they always hang out together. But, there’s just one thing that’s a secret which Hikaru doesn’t know, was that both of his friends, Takaki and Daiki were dating.
He’s gonna find out, eventually.
“Say Yeah~ Saa~ Kizu tsuita kokoro wo kimi wa ima de-“ “Daaaa-reee..” Daiki picked up his phone and answered sleepily. He’s bad with mornings.
“ OI! I’VE BEEN WAITING FOREVER IN THE CAFÉ AND YOU ARE STILL SLEEPING?!” Hikaru screamed through the phone. He received glares from other customers in the café and soften down.
“You’re so noisy, let me sleep awhile more~” The sleepy penguin whined.
“Awhile more?! Then you go collect it yourself! I’m going home!” Hikaru threatened the penguin.
“Aaaah, I’m coming, I’m coming! Hikka you’re the best-est friend in the world, you won’t do that to me right~ Wait for me okay!” Daiki stumbled out of his bed and into the bathroom.
A moment later, he’s done and he set off to find the raging Hikaru.
“Finally you reach you sleepy bum!” Hikaru’s still in rage mode.
“Goooooomen! I just cannot wake up~” Daiki flashed a cute smile but Hikaru ignored it.
“Hikka-chan~ Don’t get angry~ I’ll treat you to a drink?” He offered with a smile.
Hikaru stared at him and, “I appreciate it but no thanks, I have one already.”
“Then, how about some food? I’m sure you haven’t eat right?” Daiki attacked Hikaru with his puppy eyes.
“Don’t show me that face! Okay, I’ll accept that then, a sandwich for me thanks!” Hikaru went back to drinking his beverage.
“Hai!” Daiki skipped to the counter and ordered.
While eating, Daiki’s phone rang. “Woah, when did you like Takaki’s song that much to put it as your ringtone?” Hikaru gave a sly smile.
“Well, I just like the song~” Daiki picked up the call.
“Oh, Yuu-“ He stopped halfway when he noticed Hikaru was staring at him and he doesn’t know that Takaki’s his boyfriend yet. “-you, how are you doing? I’ll text you back later okay? I’m kinda busy now~ Bye~”
He ended the call and texted Takaki to tell him that he was with Hikaru and he’s busy so they’ll just meet tomorrow night when they have a gathering with friends and Hikaru, for Christmas.
“Who’s that? You spoke english infront.” Hikaru really wanted to know. “My classmate, just felt like speaking it just now~” Daiki took it as nothing happened and continued eating his sandwich.
Hmm, weird. Hikaru thought, there was something going on with Daiki and he needs to know why and what his best friend is hiding something from him.
After eating, they walked to the shop which is only a few stops away. Daiki had ordered the present a week ago as it needs time to be processed.
When they reached the shop and went in, Hikaru was curious about what he is getting and who is it for. Daiki didn’t say anything to Hikaru yet.
As they are waiting at the counter for the present, Hikaru moved in close to Daiki.
“You haven’t tell me who are you getting it for~” He narrowed his eyes and looked at Daiki, making his facial expression slightly evil-looking.
“I, err, getting it for my mother!” Daiki sound flustered but manage to smile back.
“Oh~ sounds suspicious, I have never seen you giving presents to your mother on christmas ever since I knew you.”
“Really? This year I’m a good son then! I mean, I’m always one, just that I don’t buy her presents for christmas last time.” The penguin boy laugh it off.
He collected his present and paid for it. “I’m done. Let’s go!”
They were outside when Hikaru suddenly remembered, “Ah! My lousy brain, I forgot to tell you that I have to meet my friend in a while more!”
Daiki laughed at his forgetful friend, “It’s okay, now that I have collected it~ Thank you for the accompany, Hikka-chan!”
“No problem~ I gotta go now! Jaa ne~” Hikaru turned and walked off.
“See you tomorrow night!” Daiki waved goodbye to Hikaru and since he have nothing to do, he went home.
He reached home and went straight into his room and laid on the bed.
“Phew, Hikaru’s suspecting me now. I wonder, will Yuuyan like my present?” He thought and giggled to himself.
Daiki’s present to Takaki is a couple necklace. Takaki’s necklace was a key with both their names carved on it while Daiki’s necklace was a lock with a heart shape in the middle and their names was carved there too.
He put away the present on his table and called Takaki.
“Yuuuuuyaaaan~ Sorry for just now, Hikaru was staring at me. Heh!”
“Never mind, are we gonna tell him soon? It’s been a month already.” Takaki felt bad for keeping Hikaru in the dark for so long, as Daiki wasn’t okay with revealing it to Hikaru .
“I guess, soon? After Christmas maybe? He’s suspecting something about me already~” Daiki was reminded of how hikaru was staring at him all along just now.
“Oh really~ Okay then. Well, where did you go just now?” Takaki asked the penguin who is currently twisting and turning on his bed, he was bored.
“Ah, I went to get your Christmas present~ but I’m not telling, you’ll know tomorrow.” Daiki giggled again.
“Hai~ my dear. I’ve got a present for you too, I’m sure you’ll like it. But I’m not telling you too! Wait for it~ Wahaha.” Takaki laughed, sounding evil.
“Hmph! Fine then~ I’m gonna watch shows, see you tomorrow Bakaki Yuuyan~” Daiki laughed.
“How dare you call me Bakaki, I’m going to tickle you tomorrow! Byebye! Oh, and, I love you! Bye!” “I love you too~ Ba-ka-ki! Byebye!” And they ended the call.
The day ended like this, Daiki watching shows and Takaki idle around at home.
The next day, they both prepared their clothes for the night, using up their afternoon, so as to look good. But, Daiki did not went to the gathering with Takaki, instead, he went with Hikaru.
It was evening already and they went to the place where they have their gathering. When they reached, they greeted all their friends and took a seat. There were many people on that day, and while waiting for Takaki, they have some drinks first.
“Takaki’s taking forever!” Hikaru started to complain.
“Oh, he said he had to pass a parcel to his friend first and he’s on his way now.” Daiki unconciously told Hikaru the reason why he was late. After saying the sentence, he realised what he had said and stared at Hikaru with his eyes opened big, he started to laugh awkwardly.
“How did you know eh~” Hikaru’s question made Daiki flushed and he can’t answer back properly.
“Ah.. That’s because.. I.. I.. was texting him just.. now at home.” Daiki faked a laugh and looked down at his drink, fiddling with the straw.
“Texting him I see, so yesterday you were texting him too I guess?” Hikaru gave a sly smile and closed in to Daiki. “Err..”
“Yo!” Takaki finally reached and greeted just in time to save his poor boyfriend from Hikaru’s questions.
Daiki felt relieved when Hikaru stopped questioning already and was focused on Takaki now.
“You’re late! Drinks are on you tonight!” Hikaru went to Takaki and placed his arm over the brunette’s shoulders.
“Eh?! Me! Well, I guess it’s me then.” Takaki had no choice but to be a kind soul since the fact he was late is true.
“Yossha! Everyone, Takaki’s treat today! Enjoy!” Hikaru went over to the crowd and joined in the fun.
Takaki made his way to the small figure sitting alone and playing with his straw. He greeted his penguin with tickles.
“Uwaah~ Stop it, hahahah!” “Not stopping, it’s your punishment for calling me Bakaki, remember? Unless, you give me a kiss!” Takaki paused for a while but continued tickling the poor guy again.
“Fine!” Daiki gave Takaki what he wanted.
He kissed him on the cheeks. “Not there! Here!” He pointed to his lips.
Then, ignoring Takaki, Daiki noticed that Takaki was holding on to this big present.
“Who’s present is that?” Daiki pointed to the big one. “Oh, this, it’s yours of course.” Takaki passed it to him and he hugged it.
“It’s soft! What’s in there?” The excited Daiki started to press it all around to find out.
“Open it later~ Where’s mine?”
“Ah, it’s here.” Daiki passed a box-shaped present to his lover. “Let’s open our presents together later! Can we?” Takaki could not say no to the cute expression that his penguin was showing. “Hai hai, my dear. You still owe me a kiss.”
Daiki just stuck out his tongue. “Not giving you!”
They put their presents on their seat and went to join in the fun with the crowd.
After the event, they were going to walk home. “Hikaru, I’ll be going this way with Daiki, you?” Takaki pointed to the direction he was going.
“I’m going the opposite. Jaa, see you!” Hikaru went off after bidding farewell, but, he had a plan in mind.
He waited for the couple to walk a distance first before trying to stalk them. He really wanted to find out what is up with the two of them.
“Let’s take a seat there shall we? It’s cooling today with the night breeze.” Takaki held Daiki’s hand and made their way to a bench to have a seat. Hikaru sneakily hide behind the tree that was close by.
“So now, let’s open our presents ne!” The excited Daiki wanted to open his big present, he can’t seem to wait any longer. He started opening, tearing the wrapping carefully.
“Uwaah! It’s so cute~ and fluffy!” The wrappings revealed a penguin plushie. “I love it! Arigatou Yuuyan~” Daiki hugged Takaki.
“I’ll name it Penguin-san!” Daiki hugged the plushie tightly.
They hugged! Yuuyan?! Since when they were “that” close?!
Hikaru shouted out in his mind after he saw them doing that.
“Now, it’s my turn.” Takaki opened the wrapping and lifted the box that was containing the necklaces.
“It’s beautiful, a couple necklaces?” He looked up to Daiki and the shy one nodded cutely.
Couple necklaces?! They’re a couple?! Since when, how? I-I, they, they have been keeping it from me! I’m so gonna bust them later.
The confused Hikaru screamed in his mind again.
“Yuuyan, let me help you put it on!” Daiki smiled and took the key shaped one.
He put it on for Takaki. “It looks nice on you~” “But it’s not perfect without you wearing it, it’s a couple necklace after all~ I’ll help you put it on!” Takaki helped his lover put it on.
Daiki's necklace was in a locket shape and have a heart in the middle. "Now, we’re the perfect couple.” Takaki said, causing Daiki to giggle.
How long have they been dating to the extent of couple necklace?! I’m going to ask them now.
Hikaru walked towards the giggling pair.
“TAKAKI YUYA AND ARIOKA DAIKI! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?!” Hikaru had this shocked face expression.
“Uh oh. We were busted this early.” Takaki looked at the shocked guy.
“Well, we were planning to tell you soon. But now, you know already.” Takaki gave a idiotic smile.
“Arioka Daiki! To think you’re my best friend! How could you bear to do this. Oh, Daiki doesn’t need me anymore, he has Takaki~” Hikaru acted out like he’s heartbroken, dramatically.
“Gomen Hikaru! I wasn’t prepared to tell you yet that’s why.” Daiki sounded sorry for keeping something from his best friend.
“Well, lucky I stalked you guys and found out! Oh my god, my best friend isn’t straight after all these years. I don’t even know whether I’m straight or not already! You just messed me up. I’m going home to rest my poor mind now.” Hikaru turned and walked off.
“Next time don’t keep anything from me! I could be trusted you know! Jaa ne!” He turn back and shouted to them with a smile and went off.
The couple let out a sigh of relief.
“Lucky he wasn’t mad. But I’m sorry for messing him up though.” Daiki said and then burst out laughing when he replayed the scene of Hikaru busting them in his mind.
" Ah! I wanted to ask you why are our necklace in different shapes?" Takaki asked.
"Ano~ Because.. " Daiki felt shy to say it but he wanted Takaki to know the reason. " It's because, I wanted to show you that.. You hold the key to my heart."
After saying that, Daiki blushed madly and looked down to avoid his lover's gaze.
"You're so sweet, you chubby penguin." Takaki can't help but to pinch the chubby cheeks of the blushing latter. "I'm forever yours."
“Oh, and my cute penguin, you still owe me something~” Takaki sounded evil. He moved closer to Daiki.
“Wha-“ Takaki kissed Daiki on the lips, not letting him finishing what he wanted to say.
After a few seconds, he let go and looked at the shocked small figure. “I didn’t say you could do that!” Daiki pouted.
“But I want to~ And you’re mine so everything of yours is mine too.” Takaki leaned in and kissed away the pout.
Daiki gave in to this silly boyfriend of his and kissed back.
“ I love you.”
Takaki hugged the small latter, Daiki’s head resting comfortably on the tall one’s chest and arms wrapped around the brunette’s waist.
“I love you too, Bakaki.”
They kept each other warm while enjoying the view of the bright stars, on their first Christmas night in each other’s arms.
A/N: I think I failed at the story’s ending. I can’t think of how to end it and it turns out like this. Comments are appreciated! ^^
