My house is full of smoke.
My dad left a covered pot on the stove, turned the heat to max and then went into the basement to talk on the phone and forgot about it. My entire kitchen was thick with a grey smokey cloud by the time we smelled it upstairs and I raced to turn off the power, carry the pot outside our doorstep, open all the windows and bring some fans down.
Why didn't our smoke alarms go off to warn us sooner? My dad took them out and said he'd replace them but never did.
