Friday
I wore my Anji Mito costume for a while to participate in this "Grand Brawl" photoshoot, but it was pretty poorly planned so it was more like a Guilty Gear shoot with 2 Ioris and a Benimaru. It was still fun to participate in a group/photoshoot nonetheless. There was another Anji but their costume was so bad the only reason I recognized him was because of the blue colour scheme and white headband.
I don't think anything else particularly interesting happened on Friday...
Lunch: n/a
I skipped out on lunch at work so I could leave early but I got told that it was against company policy later so I got in a little trouble for that later.
Dinner: Sushi Dragon
Chicken Udon. Everything else is sooo expensive. Never coming again.
Albert drove me home and stayed over until 4 helping me put the final touches on my sword. The Anji shoes I made from old sneakers left me with a blister which crippled me slightly for the following two days.
Saturday
Albert and I arrived late, sometime in the afternoon, because we were finishing up my costume as well as throwing together some last minute sandals. I got a lot of picture requests, which validates my existence like nothing else I do. My little 15 minutes of fame <3. I considered entering the masquerade but I guess I was too shy again or didn't want to be like those people who walk on, do nothing, and walk off (the crowd always sounds disappointed when people don't have anything interesting prepared). Masquerade wasn't spectacular this year, like always, so we actually left a third of the way through. I wanted to stay behind and show Louise my costume but didn't want to stick around. I think Amanda took some pictures.
Shen borrowed my Anji costume because he really wanted to cosplay. I lent it to him but I don't think it was such a good idea. He had just come back from Miami and he had a sunburn on his back that was clearly visible and peeling... Also, I'm not sure if Shen cares about what happens to the costume/props. I told him the fans were relatively delicate and he still insisted on trying to snap them open with a flick of his wrist.
Lunch: Buns.
Before we came to AN, Albert stopped by a chinese bakery and got a bag of buns so kept those for lunch. I couldn't eat it normally with my mask and it was staying on so well that I didn't want to risk having it come apart if I messed with it, so I tore off small pieces of bread and shoved them in from the other side of my mouth. Apparently when I chewed, the mask looked like it was chewing too. Very amusing.
Dinner: Richmond Court
Totally devoured one bowl of rice noodles, one plate of spaghetti and finished my friends' curry beef with rice and chicken chow mein. Reaffirmed my position as a monster.
Since my hair was covered with a combination of colour hair spray and gel, I couldn't sleep without ruining at least one section of my head so I spent the night sleeping in weird positions that you'd normally try to do in public (in chairs, over a desk, on your fist, etc.)
Sunday
Sunday I buy stuff. I bought Liz a bag because I missed her birthday, got 2 FMA mangas for myself, and a soft mesh headdress base for Albert so he can make the Ulquiorra helmet. I gotta oversee its production so it ends up looking authentic.
Liz was wearing an RO blacksmith costume with a deviruchi hat. I don't know anything about RO so I'll just say it looked cute. Apparently she needed a hammer/axe and a wagon to make it complete.
Found out where cafe nocturne was being held (after checking the AN site in the morning) so I dragged Albert, Lan and Liz to see Sheena, but it was booked solid or something so we couldn't stay. At least we got to see what it was like inside and I got to show her my costume. Kristy also approved of it which is a bonus.
Played some Street Fighter 3 on the big screen against guys who clearly knew what they were doing. Freaking 18-hit combos and junk. I got in ONE KO against one of them and no one got a perfect victory on me so I'm pleased with myself.
I finally found Pam on Sunday and got to hang out for a little bit but had to leave soon. I didn't even get to try the cupcakes she baked for me.... So sad.
Lunch: n/a
I wanted to try to get the free hamburger at Harvey's but the line was apparently really long so we didn't even try to get one. Then it started to drizzle so we stood in the foyer of a Swiss Chalet debating about prices and being cheap. In the end we all just ended up not having lunch...
Dinner: Albert, Lan and I had to attend this charity dinner that my friend was performing in so I had to reject dinner offers from Dina, Pam and Sheena. :(
Still, the dinner was pretty good, there was an open bar (non-alcoholic drinks only), I got to watch some good performances from the contestants and see Team Ryouko (an extreme martial arts performance group) do this martial arts demonstration with weapons.
There's probably more stuff. I'll add it in later
cosplay,
conventions,
long day
