Y'know, I don't mean to poke a stick at fandom to see what happens, but I always feel that way after I post something like that. Heh. Or I suppose that could be seen as "generating discussion". Which is always a good thing.

I have FINALLY begun the Dark Tower series, so now everyone may cease amazement at the fact that I hadn't read them yet. I mean, I started reading King by picking up his older novels for 75 cents at Goodwill, which tends to filter out a lot of the newer stuff/better old stuff, because people don't part with those books. I still need to own a copy of the Bachman collection (Running Man, Long Walk, Rage and another I can't recall--Naarnan had a copy), because it's good stuff.

Things coming up that I can now be excited about, since HBP is out:

Anansi Boys
Mirrormask (yeah, yeah, paint me fangirl)
Brokeback Mountain (yeah, yeah, paint me slasher)

And for those of you who haven't seen it yet, check out how to get your name in a book, and probably a damn good one, if the caliber of the authors represented is any indicator. I wish, I really do wish, I had the money to begin to imagine being killed by zombies or already dead and buried. (Although any of you who *do* have the money may note that these dates all fall within my birthday month. Just pointing that out. :D) And it all goes to quite a good cause on top of it.

My monitor died yesterday, which pissed me off at first, what with all the work put into getting a new computer. Then the irony of having a five-year-old monitor on a month-old computer hit me, and it was funny, and now I have a 17-inch flat-screen (not a flat panel, but I can deal) which is much nicer anyway.

Chris is, as of today, off to visit family for the weekend, so I am now set to un-distractedly work on stuff I seriously need to work on. This is a good thing.
