Another late one.
As I posted previously, the Fundraiser was a success. We raised a total of $3000 including the online donation site. I'm proud of all the support and all the help we received, and glad it's over. Christine is in Illinois with Lorna and the rest of the family; she was able to give Lorna the gift I mentioned briefly in an previous post: a shawl. I liked it so much I'm in the middle of making another one for myself.
I didn't get an opportunity to work on July's monthly adjective project, so I plan on getting to it this month. I did, however, photograph two really great events. One of which I thought was a Bridge to Books event, but it turns out it was specifically a Barnes and Noble Americana event. Regardless it was a great event with 11 different authors called
Summer of YA.
While I was there I asked Kristen, the event coordinator, if I could shoot the upcoming Percy Jackson event. She first had to verify that it would be ok with those putting on the event, usually for bigger events there are other press photographers there. Everything worked out and I photographed the
Percy Jackson cast signing event. I've uploaded both event photo sets to the
B&N Americana facebook page. Woo!
Also on the topic of photography, awhile back I photographed a yarn store in Burbank called Unwind because they were planning on upgrading their website. They sent out a mass email to their contacts to
announce the new site, and I got a thank you mention! (scroll down in the link). A lot of the photos used on the site are the ones I took and sent them, you can find them on my Flickr as well. Also Unwind contacted me about photographing their new yarns for the website on a monthly or bimonthly basis. So that's cool.
Also sadly, the awesome August Anaheim art show I mentioned got postponed, they've yet to pick a new date, so I'm waiting on that.
I haven't gotten a chance to work on my website, which I really need to do ASAP. And my reading has slowed down a bit.
BUT, I did go to the gym (once) this week, and tomorrow I have plans with Eric to go attempt to surf. We spent part of today getting his old board ready. I tried on a wetsuit for the first time, when it comes to tummy tucking, those things work better than spanx.
For what's left of August I need to:
-Finish the Monthly Adjective Project (Loud)
-Read and Blog more (at least one post a week)
-Get something movement on the website
-Write to my penpal
-Gym
