All The Things!

So busy, oh mah lawd so busy.

The Art Show was fun, it always is, but a lot of my friends showed up to support me and that always feels nice. I stood back and got to watch as complete strangers scoped out and complimented my photo amongst their friends. I made sure to ninjacam a woman (for proof and stuff).

My neighbor Tannis (who asked me to participate in her art show last year at Pilates and Arts -Technically my first art show) contacted me again. My photos from the last show are still up, and she's having another opening this week. She's hoping to have extra room to keep mine up, and possibly add a few more. She also mentioned that a lot of her clients have either complimented my photos, or have shown interested in purchasing them. In fact, and I don't know why I didn't mention it before, but she wrote me an email late last year about a client who was very impressed by the photos:

Hi Katie - I have a new client at the studio. She's a Pulitzer Prize
winning photographer and currently staff photographer for the LA Times
Today was her second time in the studio. She wanted to know who took
the photos up by the front door. I told her basics about you and your
experience. She said she thought you were probably a young photographer
- and said you clearly love taking photos and have a good eye and
talent. Wanted to pass that on to you. She's a very real person,
straight forward - traveled the world as a photo journalist shooting
major world events - has shot a lot of gang related stuff in LA - she
speaks her mind - no bullshit from this one. Just wanted to share this
with you. T.

So NATURALLY I googled this mystery person, her name is Barbara Davidson. Here's a link about her Pulitzer. Yay me! I'm hoping that, as soon as I get my website up, I can ask Tannis (my neighbor) if Barbara might be willing to write up a small testimonial for me. *fingers crossed*
I've got SO MUCH TO DO!

Sunday I went to see Peter Pan at the Pantages and holy crap it was a dream come true. I love Peter Pan.

Today I got an order of three pair of Steampunk earrings, for two different people. I have to finish those before next week at least. Then I have to get started on making more regularly for the Etsy account which is still not up.

Tomorrow I'm going to see The Who at Staples with my dad. He and I always go to the best damn concerts. It was a last minute decision so unfortunately we're in the nose bleed seats, but it can't be worse than where we sat for Roger Waters's The Wall.

This Friday I have a book event to photograph for Bridge to Books called Get a Clue! It sounds like a whole lot of fun because I get to photograph kids. Kids are always fun to photograph; they tend to pay less attention to the camera, but when they do it can be adorable.

Then next Thursday I've been given the OK to photograph the Darren Shan event at Central Library's Teenscape! He's potentially one of the biggest author's I've photographed. Naturally I'm terrified.

Also, I'm going to try to post more often, I'm aiming for weekly, so that I don't rely on the Resolution Recap's to squeeze in every little detail. I want those to be more of a basic review of the month and to focus more on what I plan for the next month. We'll see how it goes.

assertion, daddy-daughter time, art shows, name dropping, semi-steampunk stuff, link attack, bragging rights, yay me for getting stuff done, pilates and arts, shows, dad, the wall, nerd!, peter pan syndrome, photography, entrepreneur, peter pan, concerts, work, roger waters, artsy fartsy me, resolutions, cannibal flower, bridgetobooks
