Another late post, apologies. This'll be mostly pictures anyway.
A couple of weeks ago some friends and I went camping up in Big Sur. The only time that I was in Big Sur before was on my Road Trip to Washington with my dad in '07. I apparently slept through it, which explains why I don't remember any of it. This trip was fun, but too short. I wished we could have stayed at least another day.
Friday:
We made it to Limekiln campground, which was an awesome campground because at one end is deep forest, and at the other is the beach. It's a 5 minute walk from one world to another.
We set up camp, played at the beach and hiked a bit.
We also realized we left the most important bags at home... including paper towels, plates, certain foods, and cooking stuffs. So that sucked, but Andrea was able to ask around the campground for some foil and we made it work that first night.
And we made an epic fire:
Saturday:
We got to visit two places that I had been dying to visit since before planning the trip. The first was the Henry Miller Library, where I started a new tradition of buying books instead of souvenirs on my trips. Unfortunately, they were preparing for an event so the front lawn was tented, but I still got to look around the inside.
Next we went to Pfeiffer State Beach, which was tricky to get to because there are signs for Julia Pfeiffer State Park, but none for the beach. In order to get to the beach we had to drive around looking for an unmarked road with a sign saying "
narrow road" (just to be clear Narrow Road wasn't the name of the road, it was creepy and hidden and fucking narrow). To make the situation creepier we stopped at a store to ask for directions and after remarking to the guy register that we just wanted to make sure we didn't take a wrong turn and end up in a cheesy teen slasher film, he replied "Oh you will anyway." Thanks, creepy ass dude...
Well we found it anyway, and survived. So fuck you creepy dude.
On the way back from the beach we made a stop at a cliff side for the view, and then we hung out at camp the rest of the night.
Moar pretty pictures:
Sunday we left.
You can see the rest of the pretty photos here. Also Christine took this really awesome picture of me.
