Valentine's Day

I gave to Valentine's gifts today: my first to my Dad this morning. Every year I get him a little box of Whitman's Samples and a card. He never expects it, and I think this year it meant more because he's finally coming to terms with the fact that I'm growing up. I'm glad to have made him smile, I know he gets lonely on Valentine's day.

Eric and I had agreed that we wouldn't spend too much money on Valentine's day this year, since we're saving up for our trip to Florida in April. We exchanged boxes of chocolate (the one I gave him was awesome, but I can't really explain why, let's just say there was more than chocolate in the chocolate box), and later I napped while he cooked me a fantastic surprise dinner. And of course we danced gaily, with a bottle of wine, to our song (One and Only by Adele - woot Grammy winner!). It was a quiet evening over all; a lot of talking, laughing, random picture taking.

Dinner was obscene amounts of pasta and ravioli, with soy chicken and garlic alfredo sauce. Desert was pink M&Ms and chocolately chocolate chocolateness. We had wine, but I stuck most to drinking water because I'm still on antibiotics for my ear.

My ear infection came back and it's been worse than ever. I've been getting very random anxiety attacks, which I'm guessing have been due to the vertigo and hearing loss. My ear has been so swollen that it feels like I've got cotton balls stuck it there. Eric's been a great help though, he's been soaking Qtips in cold water to help with the swelling, and letting me nap while he cooks or cleans or works.

Despite the pain and anxiety I've been going through, Valentine's was very romantic. Also feel like pointing out that we've been together for ten months now. That's a record for me. Usually by the ninth month, in past relationships, I've either dumped or been dumped. So far there's not hint of a that between either of us, I feel like we're going to be together for awhile. The moms and I joke that so far in our relationship there have been no fights, babies, or arrest records.

I hope you all had a Happy Valentine's (or Singles Awareness) Day. One more truffle and I'm going to bed.

mmm carbs, eric, bragging rights, mushy gushy
