For the last couple of years I've gone on a week long vacation with The Moms to Cancun. This was suppose to be the last year for a number of reasons. First of all, they both have been to Mexico five times and are ready to move on to some where new. I wanted to go back to visit Chichen Itza and to see my friend David, who I did get to see last year. Since I'm hoping to be moved into the new house with Eric by either the end of this year or the beginning of next I'm actually going to have more bills to focus on, and vacationing won't make my list of priorities for at least a couple of years.
In April, which is usually when we make the trip, Eric and I are going to Florida to attend his friend's wedding. We're going to be there for about 4 days on the same week that my step mom has her Spring Break, meaning it would clash with the Cancun trip since my step mom can't miss classes. We had decided then to move it to after her semester in June, but my mom found out that the company she works for is blacking out the summer months for employee vacations. Because of that, she can't go in June.
I was hoping we could sit together and work on finding a time when the three of us could go together, but my step mom was happy to lose me and work towards planning a trip elsewhere. Since going back to Cancun would have been for my benefit, she immediately started naming off places that her and my mom could go. That hurt my feelings.
Later, Mom and I started discussing the idea of going on a short Mommy-and-Me trip like Christine and my step mom did last year. They went on a two week trip to Cuba, so this year my mom and I decided we're going to go to Cancun for five days in May. Because it's just going to be the two of us, we're going to share a room and save money for the Chichen Itza trip and hopefully another Pirate Ship Dinner., and maybe we can make it to Tulum as well.
Hooray for my momma!
