My coworker Alicia went to the ALA Conference in New Orleans a couple of a weeks ago and she brought me some cool things. First she brought back a handful of ARCs; I took Forever by Maggie Stievfater, Wonder Struck by Brain Selznick, and Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. I've heard of and am excited about the first two, and the third just sounded intriguing. Alicia also brought me a poster autographed by Lane Smith, author of It's a Book!, which is a hilarious children's book that most skillfully gets away with using the word "Jackass". There's also a cute animation of the book
here.
Also I went thrifting with Eric this week. I saw this awesome frame at a dollar store. It had trees embossed on it, but was painted sparkly silver. (Why is it always silver or gold? That's just gross, amirite.) Eric bought it for me and surprised me by painting it my favorite moss green color. He is so fucking awesome! suggested putting the only picture of the two of us, taken on his roof before he moved, in the frame. I'm all for it, but it's a big frame and I'm thinking of putting a 4x6 of the photo and surrounding it with other stuff. I just haven't figured out what that "other stuff" could be. Clearly stuff that should represent him or us. I'm considering a Starbucks napkin, because we met at the Starbucks where he works. I want to be creative with this, but I don't want to be lame or stereotypical. I'm open to ideas.
Want to see how terrible I am at smooth segues into a concluding idea:
I finally found a treat that Eevee likes! Let the training commence...
(...not smooth at all)
