I just glance at my Top 25 Most Played list from iTunes. Now, this is only since I got this computer in September 2005 and probably wildly inaccurate because it doesn't account for any of my non-iTunes listening (which is substantial--hi iPods!). But still:
- Andrew Bird - A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head
- The Essex Green - Rue de Lis
- Andrew Bird - Sovay
- Jenny Lewis with The Watson Twins - You Are What You Love
- KEXP 90.3 FM Seattle - Live Stream (haha--how did I ever think I wouldn't move to Seattle?)
- Knife in the Water - Watch Your Back
- The Essex Green - Penny & Jack
- Andrew Bird - Measuring Cups
- Edith Frost - Emergency
- The Essex Green - Don't Know Why (You Stay)
- The Magnetic Fields - When My Boy Walks Down the Street
- Palaxy Tracks - The Sediment
- Art Brut - Good Weekend
- Belle and Sebastian - Act of the Apostle Part 1
- The Essex Green - Uniform
- The Jayhawks - Blue
- Knife in the Water - Promenade
- Okkervil River - Dead Dog Song [Radio]
- Knife in the Water - Kill a Tiger
- Michael Franti & Spearhead - Never Too Late (Live on KEXP) (ok, that's embarassing)
- Okkervil River - Riot Act
- Palaxy Tracks - To the Chicago Abyss
- Pavement - Gold Soundz
- Shearwater - A Hush
- Stephen Malkmus - Malediction
Okay now, I can buy most of these. Not necessarily all-time faves or true most-listened, but generally pretty frequently-listened at some point in the last year. But numbers 14, 18, and 21 surprised the hell out of me. I mean, I like them, but those are a couple of my favorite bands and hardly favorite tracks by them. Weird.
For the record, my favorite Okkervil River song is "He Passes Number 33" (the version on the split EP with Julie Doiron, not the LP version). Not sure about Belle & Sebastian. "Lazy Line Painter Jane," "Piazza, New York Catcher" or "Seeing Other People" are all good candidates. Or "The State I Am In," after all I named my LJ after it! Or...okay, too hard to choose. Maybe I'm splitting the vote here.
