O would some Power the gift to give us
To see ourselves as others see us!
It would from many a blunder free us,
And foolish notion:
What airs in dress and gait would leave us,
And even devotion!
This last stanza of To A Louse by Robert Burns has been running through my head for two days now. I think I am preoccupied with the idea of how others see me, and how I see or do not see myself. Then I start thinking about how I see the people I know, and what they see themselves as, and how close to or far from their vision of themselves my vision of them is.
Gawd, how bloody solipsistic of me. Like I don't have a dozen other things I could be using my thoughts for.
Like... studying for the exam on Thursday, and deciding whether or not it is worth it to skip my 7-10pm class Wednesday night. So much I need to do, and I barely have time to do it all.
