Hope you all are having a tasty meal tonight.
Thanksgiving is not a big deal with our family. All our relatives live in CA or IL, so its just the five of us and really, the only difference is more food and we're eating in the dinning room rather than the kitchen. We barely even have James this year, he's going to Curacao tomorrow and won't be back until January or February... they really do like sending him there this time of year. I guess if I were him, I wouldn't complain too much... Curacao is a small island off of Venezuela, so sandy beaches and warm weather. No blizzards and icy roads for him.
Dad is racing to get his light show up. We really didn't have that great of weather after Halloween for him to put it up, so he's having to make do. At least we haven't gotten ice, so the roof isn't that slippery.
I did start playing WoW again (at least for this weekend, we'll see how I feel after that). I'm playing druid and can't wait to get the animal forms (I began the bear form quest last night but went to bed without completing it).
Monday evening was spent talking with the girl who will be working with me on the kitty maid cafe at Otaku Omaha. She was definitely the right person to work with. She has a culinary degree and just in general, we're on the same page with a lot of our ideas. We were told it should be all prepackaged food that we should sell, but we're going beyond that. Lots of asian snacks, ramen, mochi, tea and rice balls. Everything is going to be decorated so cute. We were told they just want to break even but we're shooting for making a bit of a profit. Even if its only a few extra dollars, it can go toward the following year's funding. Its supposed to be maid cat girls, but we might actually nab lolitas to work it instead, give it a little more class. My partner has some connections to the local lolitas, so it should be good. I guess if I was ever looking for an excuse to put together a lolita outfit, now would be the time. (I have no clue what style I would go for... probably nothing too over the top.)
Of interesting note, I guess there's some big deal gaming tournament that is going to be held at Otaku Omaha. They're selling badges specifically for it and in fact have almost hit the goal for pre-reg numbers already. Video gamers are more on the ball than anime fans, I guess.
otaku omaha,
thanksgiving,
