My weekend was very quiet. Sarah came over Friday night to give me a birthday gift. She got me a really cute frame and placed a picture of me, her and her sister from her wedding. The frame and the picture go really well together. Someday, I'll get a move on with my collage of framed pictures on a wall. (My collection of pictures is really small, so I'm not too worried about starting it just yet.) We hit Walmart and I picked up some stuff I'd been putting off buying (like gloves that actually keep out some of the cold).
Saturday, Kris and I rented some movies and ate at a pretty delicious Chinese restaurant way out of the way. Chop Stick House, or something like that, was the name. I ate some tasty crispy chicken and shared the sample platter with Kris. One nice thing about the meals, they come with 2 crab rangoon. The crab rangoon was pretty tasty but lacking in the crab. Better than some of the crab rangoon I've had... but there's definitely better. I'd definitely go back, if I happened to be in the area.
We watched Edward Scissorhands, which I had never seen completely. Half a year or so ago, I saw the last like ten minutes and that was it. I'm glad Kris had me watch it, I really didn't think I'd like it based on what I had seen.
(BTW, sorry I had to cut our conversation short, Lydia! You called when I was picking up a 3rd movie to buy from Blockbuster. Kris had already checked out the movies we were going to rent and was outside in the cold. That's why he called me... to ask me to unlock my car.)
I spent most of today cleaning the apartment with Kris. My family was coming over to celebrate my birthday. We hit Cheeseburger in Paradise. I had some chicken on skewers with a curry sauce on them and a 'Lady of the Sea', which had layers of Pina Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri. It was really tasty, had I been drinking it at home, I probably could have had a second one. (It didn't taste like shampoo this way.)
My family got me a gift card to Target, Boondock Saints DVD and a refurbished camera that is the same type that I already own. The good news with this one, it has a 5 year warranty and dad already registered it for me. It didn't come with a dock, so I can use the one I already have; plus I can use my old memory cards and battery as spares.
Kris and I watched Rat Race, after my family left. Kris hadn't seen it before, but I think he enjoyed it. It is really silly.
I made small progress on my Onion Knight costume, yesterday. I'm slowly working out the patterns I need to make the helm. Just hopefully, I'm getting all my math right. I thought I'd do everything properly, so I'm figuring out proportions based on size in the picture, rather than just winging it, like I normally do. I can't wait until it's done.
