Last night, Lydia and I poured through her books, trying to find fun articles of clothing for a steampunk outfit. After much thought, I think I will have to keep my two separate ideas as separate. One was to do an explorer/air ship captain type outfit, the other was sort of a mechanical doll type thing (with wind-up key in back). I have a design I love for the jacket for the explorer one. I'm toying with two different skirt designs to go with it, if I can combine them, I think it'll be really pretty. The length will be just past the knees so I can have pants and boots visible. And goggles. I need really fun goggles. I also want some nice fingerless gloves.
I'm still working out the details on the other one. I think I know what I want to do for the top and bustle, I just need to work out the details on the skirt. If I go with the corset I plan, I don't think I'll need a harness for the wind-up key after all. We'll see though.
This weekend, I hope to get a good start on one of the wonderflex pieces... it's going to be a long process, that's for sure.
Saturday, I have dinner with some friends and Sunday I plan to go antique shopping with Lydia to hunt for some stuff to use on our steampunk outfits. It'll be fun. I definitely want to find a cheap old clock or watch to destroy for parts.
