sehun/luhan, some sehun/jongin. primary school au.
written for gabi's meme and so here's my first exo fic!!

How dare Kim Jongin get sick? The only one who can get sick here was him, Oh Sehun! And if he did get sick, Jongin had to fulfill his duties and take care of him (because that's what peasants do). Apparently, Jongin had caught a fever after they played in the rain for an hour ("How come you don't have a fever?!" Jongin had whined, and when Sehun stuck out a tongue and said only idiots like Jongin get a fever, Jongin had pounced on him claiming he'd infect him, too. Needless to say, Sehun didn't visit again).

But now he was all alone.

Sehun looked down at the lunch box his father had prepared and sighed. He'd taken the lunchbox from his bag and silently walked out of the classroom, eager to leave and not be noticed. He'd looked around, and found a tree in the grounds, partially covered by a large bush. Good, no one would see him there. Hastily, Sehun walked over and seated himself on the grass, taking out the lunchbox and his utensils.

That's right, Oh Sehun was a man! He could eat his lunch alone! There was no embarrassment to eating alone! It wasn't as if he didn't have any other friends he could approach and ask to eat lunch with even though it was envious to see a big group laughing at each other and he definitely didn't think it was ... lonely .... or anything ...

Jongin, come baaaacckk.

"Oh."

At the voice, Sehun looked up. He was greeted by a blond boy, probably about his height if he stood. What really caught his attention were the pair of bright, clear eyes staring straight at him, curiosity in them and a hint of ... anxiousness, was it? The other boy had looked behind him, then back at Sehun.

"... Hi?" Sehun greeted, a little hesitant because what else was he supposed to say, dammit. It was only then that he noticed the lunchbox the boy was holding and it hit him. "Er, were you going to eat lunch here?"

"Um ... yeah. That's kind of my spot." Sehun blinked and was just about to keep his lunchbox -- "But we can share~!" The blond smiled at him - a smile so bright and cheerful that Sehun could only stare as the boy hastily sat beside Sehun, words lost as the other boy began talking. He asked for his name ("Sehun." "I'm Lu han! ... It's Chinese." "Oh."), how old he was ("I'm six." "Sehun-ah, it's bad to lie!" "I'm not lying! ... How old are you?" "I'm eight!" "... You're the liar, hyung."), and why he was there.

"Don't you have any friends?" Luhan had asked, curiously eying him as Sehun promptly choked on a piece of dumpling he was eating.

"O-of course I do! I just ... well, why are you eating here alone?"

"Because I like eating alone~"

"Then that's why I'm eating here alone, too!" Sehun huffed, turning his back to Luhan as he shoved another dumpling in his mouth. Hopefully not choking.

He could feel the poking at the back of his head.

Poke.

Poke.

Poke.

"Stop it, hyung --!" he turned around, eyebrows knitted in annoyance. Seriously, what kind of person treated someone else like that on the first day they met?! He was going to show --

Stop.

Staring straight at him was Luhan, bright eyes shining.

It was impossible not to look away.

And then those lips curled into a smile equally bright, a hand reaching up to pat him on the head.

"Don't worry, Sehunnie~ I'll be your friend!"

He couldn't even protest the nickname. Or claim he had friends.

Sehun could only nod as he felt his face grow warm and his heart beating against his chest.

"I met someone the other day."

Jongin nodded, his head propped up on pillows as he took the notes Sehun had for him. Ah, even though Sehun treated him like a slave, he was still a good friend~

"His name's Luhan."

Jongin didn't miss the way Sehun seemed to bow his head down even lower, looking down at the bedsheet he was sitting on.

"He's Chinese and older than us and he's really nice and really funny, and even gave me some of his lunch." Sehun started fiddling with Jongin's blanket and wow Sehun didn't act like this unless --

"You like him, don't cha?" Jongin smirked at him, leaning towards Sehun. Oh, he saw where this was going and he saw the way Sehun's face turned pink and how he shook his head until he slowly ... nodded. Knew it. He could read his best friend as easily as he can beat him in Mario Kart. "Don't worry, Sehun, I support you." He grinned (as best as he could in his condition), placing a hand on Sehun's shoulder.

"Really?"

"Yeah, of course, I'm your best friend!"

"So can you be absent for another week?"

Wait.

"What?"

"If you're around, I'd have to eat lunch with you and Luhan-hyung, so I won't have time for him myself."

"Sehun ... I'm your best friend."

"So you'd do this for me, right? Actually, can you be absent an entire month?"

He hates Oh Sehun.

"Mom, can I go to school tomorrow? Someone's taking away Sehunnie."
