Hey, I forgot I had livejournal.
Stuck out here on the rig for a little over a week more. Thankfully I didn't buy a whole heap of groceries like last time. That was pretty gross to clean up, 3 week old kangaroo steaks. :-/
It's been ok so far, considering I've now spent christmas, birthday and new years eve out here. We had a close call with Tropical Cyclone Billy. More than half the rig got evacuated in preparation but it headed out to sea just before christmas eve and people started heading back on boxing day. Christmas dinner was damn good, better than anything I would have gotten back home. No alcohol, understandably, though I did win a bottle of cognac in the raffle (to be picked up from Fremantle, grrr).
The weather out here is pretty inhospitable right now. During the day the heat is scorching and even at night the humidity hits you as soon as you step outside. Thankfully I'm inside all day and working nights.
I really don't like summer, the only good thing about it is summer fruits. Mmmmm peaches.
