Since leaving Hyderabad we have mostly been meeting my mother's friends from when she was in India more than 40 years ago.
Dr. I.G. Sundararajan is quite a character. A former pastor and now a counselor, the guy has way too much energy for a 64-year-old. I really like him though. He's warm and talkative and talented and unconventional. He gave me a back massage after I carried all the bags to the train station. Ha!
Now we're back in Chennai, and my mum is meeting with other old friends while I hide in an Internet cafe. We flew Hyderabad to Chennai Dec 11, then got a train to Vellore the same day. Dec 14 we took a train back to Chennai, where we are now. And this is the schedule for the next few days:
Dec 16: fly Chennai to Bangkok
overnight train from Bangkok to Vientiane, Laos
(meet my sister and Jacob)
Dec 19: bus from Vientiane to Vang Vieng, Laos
Dec 23: bus from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang, Laos
Jan 1-2: fly from Luang Prabang, Laos to Hanoi, Vietnam
(leave sister and Jacob)
