It's all Wenchie's fault *BG*

Gileswench had a top ten list on her LJ and I asked for one of my very own

Top Five reasons that the Dixie Chicks rock.

Now, let me preface this by saying that I haven't really liked them since their first album...I fell in love with SheDaisy right after that. That being said, I did like their first album so I'm doing the five reasons on their first album. ;-)

1. It sounded like nothing that's come before. I'll be honest and say that Natalie Maines' voice wasn't one that hooked me right away. My first thought was that it was a little too high-pitched for me. But the
more I listened to this cd, the more that her voice grew on me.

2. I like the upbeat songs on here. Anyone who knows me knows that I like my sad, melancholy country songs, but I also like the ones that are fast and fun.

3. I don't normally like bluegrass, but they blended it with more mainsteam country into a combination that was something fun to listen to.

4. They didn't do a lot of traditional sounding stuff on this album, but the one that was very close was "Tonight the Heartache's on Me." It probably still is one of my favorites of theirs.

5. The last reason would probably be that I liked their follow up to this album "Fly" almost as much as this one. It had a lot of the same qualities that "Wide Open Space" had that made me enjoy it so much.

Okay, there you have it. I'm embarrassed to admit how long this took me to do...but I'll try to do better next time. LOL
