and freedom endures

Last night was simply amazing. It was one of my simplest joys in life. Justin and I were at the union til close working with Traci. Traci metioned something about having a key to go on the roof of the building so Justin and I asked if we could go up there sometime. She took us up to the roof after they clocked out and it felt like real freedom.
We walked a step staircase with brick walls on either side of us. The dirt and spiderwebs showed how little people go up there. We opened the roof door, which it was slanted and we had to push it up instead of open. The door was metal with a latch. We climbed over the opening almost to a new world. The breeze was warm and the sky cloudless. There was some heat lightening off in the distance. Just the thought of no walls, no boundries, just you the sky the wind and the moon was breath taking. The city lights shown with excellance. From that distance we could see our dorm, it seemed like lightyears away, although we had just walked the distance up to the union a few hours earlier. It was the first taste of freedom I've experienced in a long time.

I love the summer. The freedom, the warm nights, the fires, the swimming and the sunsets. Each year is a new experience all over again. The biggest smile has been on my face and I can't seem to wipe it off.

The thought of growing up isnt so scary anymore. I'll always have my pride. No one can take that from me unless I chose to give it up.
