I know right.

"But really if I was running away, which I'M NOT, it would be a STATEMENT and I WOULD NOT CALL YOU."

Me: "Dude, it's not like they could trace it. No matter what you think I have done, you don't think I would deserve FIVE MINUTES to tell me you aren't, you know, DEAD????"

Him: "No, I'm not saying that,"

Me: "Well, that is what I'd be thinking!!!"

He's kind of right in that running away is often all about punishing the parent. No phone call is your punishment. And of course, you can't make him understand that letting you think he's dead is overkill, because if he understood that, he wouldn't run away....

See, that's exactly right. We are not speaking in the same universe, right now. And we have GREAT communication, as a norm, between us. But just now, with my empathy for bff being so raw? I had to walk away. Or else, you know, kill him.

Oh, LOL. Apparently all maturing between EIGHT and SIXTEEN is wholly illusory.

I did something SOOOOO similar.

I don't actually think Puppy will run away any time soon (although, of course, who thinks it's imminent????)

However, if the little shit got it in his head that he was pissed at me, about half of his friends have cars and licenses now, not to mention cash.

Pfft. Pfft pffty pfft.

I didn't think about running away all that often, but when I did, I knew which non-parental adults I'd call. Because I grew up in the Age of the Very Special Afterschool Special and I was *prepared*.

lolol.

I tried to run away from home once when I was a teen.

About two hours later, I just came back home X'D.

I sucked at planning and realized I had no money, no stuff, and no where to go. Really, I was dumb when I was 13. Mom just laughed at me when I came back (but she was worried), and everybody was so amused that we forgot why we were mad at each other.

Back then, I wouldn't have a phone to call her, but I know she would expect me to find a pay phone and tell her I was okay (and I probably would..."I'm okay, but I'm STILL not coming back! I'M MAKING A STATEMENT!").

Aww! See, that's ALL I'm asking. That he promise that if he runs away and he's ASSUREDLY NOT COMING HOME because he's MAKING A STATEMENT he just let me know he's not dead.
