sex, yardwork, and my book

And tomorrow, we're going to see some swinging friends outside of town! She's the cute, petite blonde I've mentioned a few weeks ago. He's the cop. What a cool birthday week so far!

Did some yardwork today. MOwed the front and back yards and edged the whole property. Scholar, our huge great dane, has dug some really deep holes in the backyard that I have to patch up tomorrow. Her paws are so huge, that it doesn't take much effort for her to dig a hole 3 feet deep (and I'm not kidding there)!

My book is coming along. I'm having to fill out a permissions form for every speech I want to include in my anthology. I have to give the author, speech title, book/website name, pages, publisher, copyright date and owner, and attach a copy of the original. This is A LOT of work. 39 speeches! Some of these were very hard to find and some of the original sources I've lost over the 9 years of doign this project. I've had to re-discover where some of these speeches were so that I can include them in the anthology.

My book rep is coming Friday to take me out to lunch and to collect the forms. I should also be able to see a draft copy of my book copy from my illustrator, which I'll post if it is done.

I've found a person to write the Forward to my book. He is a very well respected scholar in my field and has written two large encyclopedias on oratory, among other things. He is not only writing the Forward, but also now contributing an essay to the last Part of the book. I felt it was a little bit of a compromise, but his name will add to the credibility of the text. It is a good essay though. Very good essay on Huey Long -- the Kingpin of New Orleans.
