Did you hear the one about...
the student who, as his attention getter to his speech, thought it would be a grand idea to take a mouse from its cage and dangle it in front of his snake? Well, the snake grabbed it, and slowly started to swallow the mouse. To their horrified facial expressions and verbal screams, the students were terrified. The speaker did prepare for this, however, and thought a newspaper placed over the snake while it continued to strangle and digest its prey would be sufficient. The student made his way through the speech while behind him was a newspaper moving to the beat of a dying rodent. Think any student could even remotely pay attention? And this was an HONORS student!! And this is AFTER I spent a day talking about the dangers of using shocking appeals before an audience!!
