Weekends are too short!

Had quite an enjoyable weekend. Saturday, visited the Lane County Historical Museum and their Tie Dye And Tofu exhibit, detailing our fair city's hippie history. It was quite interesting, seeing those alternative newspapers, hippie clothing and artifacts, even a recreated crash pad and a fully decked-out period VW microbus playing alternative music radio broadcasts from the late 1960s (from station KZEL).

Sunday, took the kiddo to the discount theater to see Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. His usual reaction to me taking him anywhere is "Do we haaavvee to?!", then ending up having a good time. This was no exception. I don't know if he followed the story, but he was totally blown away by the beautiful boat, impressed with the dragon, frightened by the sea serpent, loved the action sequences and generally had a great time. Eventually, he's going to figure out that when Mommy takes him somewhere, he's going to have fun, and it's not going to be drudgery.

My SCA group is starting a Medieval Cookery class, something I've been interested in for a long time. I've cooked over an open fire before, but not since Girl Scouts, so I definitely need to brush up on techniques. Besides, it's fun to learn something new and have something interesting to look forward to in the coming months.

Alas, all good things come to an end, thus we are back to work for the rest of the week. Hopefully spring will arrive soon and we can do more fun stuff outdoors. :)
