Blue Jays preview

Apr 06, 2010 23:22

I don't have much time to write, so I'll be brief.

The hitting will probably be pretty good, although certainly not the best. I'm mostly worried about Alex Gonzalez getting too much playing time and John McDonald not enough. I hope that we don't end up relying on Edwin Encarnacion's bat very often.

I expect good seasons from Aaron Hill, Adam Lind, Vernon Wells (!), Lyle Overbay, and hopefully Travis Snider and Randy Ruiz.

Pitching is obviously a big problem. I'm worried about Brian Tallet, Brandon Morrow, Kevin Gregg, and Jeremy Accardo. Can their starting rotation compete against the Yankees or Red Sox? Not likely.

In short, I expect the Jays to score a lot of runs and allow a lot of runs. They'll win blowouts and lose close games, just like last year.

Of course, I hope that they will win the World Series, but realistically I think that they won't make the playoffs.
