Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby are the top two scorers (points) in the NHL so far this season. Since the expansion of the NHL in 1967, teammates have been scoring leaders (points) 10 times: 5 times by the Boston Bruins; 3 times by the Edmonton Oilers; and 2 times by the Pittsburgh Penguins. It was last accomplished in 1995-96, when Lemieux and Jagr led the league, and Sakic edged out Francis for third. (In 1986-87, Lemieux had more goals than Messier.)
(Note that there were 12 teams in 1969-70; 14 in 1970-72; 16 in 1973-74; 18 in 1974-75; 21 in 1983-87; 22 in 1991-92; 26 in 1995-96.)
