rotations

Mar 06, 2009 20:07

I haven't updated in forever and now i'm kinda writing about something that probably wont make sense to anyone else, but I'm hoping the more I write it down the more I'll hopefully be able to figure out my plan for next year

Rotations for next year finally went up
All this waiting around.
There are 7 total blocks and we do rotations in 6 with an open one
We have to do one summer rotation (I was hoping to get 2 and have a Spring block off) because there aren't enough weeks in the semester

My schedule is kind of all over the place, partially my own fault. We get to pick our top 3 choices for each option (4 blocks in specific fields and 2 electives) I luckily got one of my top 3 for everything where as it seems a decent amt of my classmates didn't. I don't have the blocks exactly where I would like them but I can't complain too much

Finals finish May 12th and then i have to move somewhere in the Providence area which is yet to be determined by May 17th.

GRADUATION

So I was really hoping once I figured out the final rotations housing would make more sense but it doesnt.
I still really have no idea what I'm going to do. I'm in Newport for 6 wks (about 45 min from Providence) then off for a couple months. Most likely I will need to do a year lease From May 2009 to may 2010 so do I go home during breaks or stay in RI and try to work? Pay rent and not live there for a while? idk and then in September I'll be home for 6 weeks while at the FDA and VA beach provides housing so again I will be paying rent somewhere up here and not living there. I am going to be spending a lot of money and not making any. I don't really want to work on top of my rotations other than during my summer block off but idk Ill be poor haha
I also need to buy a GPS (im going to be driving A LOT), an iPod touch(picked it over Palm and an 8gb is sufficient), $200 of Lexicomp software eek

I also still havent heard from the Navy. My application is still in review I guess. I don't know if I ever put it in here I applied for a collegiate program and would be signing on for 3 years post graduation. I like that they are less "about the business" of pharmacy although i wouldn't be making the typical RPh pay post grad haha

If I don't get the HSCP I think my plan is to sign on after graduation ($30,000 sign on bonus :P) but that is hard because Community pharmacy interviews start probably this summer because people get their offers by November of 6th yr and are signing on so if Idk if i would try that as back up so i wouldnt wait til graduation but I wouldn't want to commit with a community pharmacy in Novemeber if I was planning on doing Navy.
I didn't get Spring 1 block off which is optimal for Residency Interviews which was my other option.
I need to figure out what I want to do with my life. Post college life is scary.
