[IC Information]
Character Name: Maureen Johnson
Series: RENT
Gender: Female
Age: ~25
Species: Human
Appearance:
Maureen is a slim woman that stands at 5'4''. What she lacks in height, however, her personality definitely makes up for. She's a very attractive woman with a nice figure and toned muscles. She has brown eyes and dark brown hair that reaches just past her shoulders.

Maureen's fashion sense is definitely ecclectic. Being that she doesn't have much money, she dresses in whatever she has around. She'll go out and splurge, however, on a few wardrobe necessities. It's rare to see her not wearing leather. She often has a leather jacket or biker gloves on when she's not sporting her skin tight leather pants. She tends to pair the leather with camisoles or sleeveless tops with interesting patterns and stiletto boots. Accessories are also a key part to her wardrobe; she loves wearing anything that makes a bold statement: bangles, zodiac earrings, multiple rings on her fingers. She arrives in Manhattan with an engagement ring on her left ring finger... But it might not stay there for long.

Personality:
Maureen is an extremely confident woman that loves being the center of attention. She knows how to have fun, attract attention, and keep it (and tends to use this to her advantage both in her performances as well as her flirting). She is extremely egocentric and won't pay someone any mind unless it has something to do with herself. She'll attribute others' success to her own role in it while trying to bring the focus back to herself.

She loves the limelight and will fight to be in it no matter what the situation. She's known for throwing elaborate protests along with her usual performing and showing off in public. As part of her love for being the center of attention, Maureen has a (bad?) habit of flirting with anyone who catches her eye. She loves the attention, even if she's already dating/'serious' with someone. She's a natural flirt, sometimes even doing so without intending to do so. To cover up for her mistakes, when caught by her significant other, she tends to lie. In order to smooth things over she starts using pet names... normally "Pookie", accompanied by pouting her lips.

Despite all of this, however, Maureen really is a good person. She tries to do what's right, even if it is mostly for her own gain. But above all else, she loves her friends... Even if she doesn't have the best way of showing it. She'll often stand up for them if someone verbally attacks them, but she's easy to get riled up. Her temper is terrible when she snaps and she tends to say hurtful things.

A pretty face and a nice body are like kryptonite to the performance artist. Even if she's trying to be on her best behavior, she can't help herself when she comes across one of those two. Borderline nymphomaniac, it might sometimes put her in an very offsetting situation or potentially make an encounter especially awkward. She's extremely egocentric and has a hard time managing if she's not being paid any attention. She is also an extreme control freak, always needing to be the one in charge of the relationship or anything else for that matter. She gives herself the self importance of being the one in charge and is extremely uncomfortable if that's taken away from her.

History:
Maureen was born to Eddie and Nancy Johnson as an only child. Always outspoken and constantly making friends, Maureen had no trouble getting ahead in what she intended to do with her life. Even though her parents would have paid her way through college, Maureen dropped out of college after a couple of years and , instead, became a performing artist. She spent her time working on elaborate protests and shows to entertain the masses. As she did this, she moved out of her parent's house and in with her good friends Tom Collins, Roger Davis, Benny Coffin and her then-boyfriend Mark Cohen.

Hiring Mark as her production manager, Maureen was able to bring her own style to the performing arts world. When she wasn't on stage, she was often flirting with a cute person she had just run into and eventually dumped Mark after cheating on him multiple times. After parting ways with her friends, she met a lawyer named Joanne Jefferson and began an intimate relationship with her.

On Christmas Day of 1989, Maureen called Mark in a frenzy. She'd hired Joanne as her production manager and was positive that the lawyer didn't know the first thing about the job. Things had to go according to plan during her protest that evening, and she didn't trust Joanne to get it done on her own. After talking Mark into helping out, Maureen was confident in her protest's success.

To her delight, the protest began very successfully. There was a large turn out and all eyes were on her (as they should be). Cat calls and cheers could be heard through the crowd as she performed... Until the Police had to go and make a mess of things. The police that Benny had put on standby tried to stop a riot that hadn't started and it escalated quickly, much to Maureen's dismay. No matter how much she tried to plead with the audience, it didn't help.

Managing to escape without behind arrested, Maureen and Joanne showed up at the Life Cafe to celebrate the success of the protest (and the fact that Mark managed to sell his footage of it to the news that evening). Benny and his investors were already there, and though Benny tried to apologize for what happened (receiving a firm "Go to hell" from Maureen), he continued to proclaim to them that Bohemia has died. Intent on proving him wrong, the group that gathered burst into an outlandish display of everything Bohemia stands for, including several taboo subjects. Managing to scare off the investors and Benny, the group continued their celebration.

Ringing in the New Year to the wee hours of the morning (drunken and dressed in a leather catsuit), Maureen and Joanne returned to the apartment building with their friends to realize that Benny had padlocked the door and thrown Mark, Roger and Mimi out.

Insisting that he take the job with Buzzline, Maureen and Joanne escorted him to his first meeting with corporate America. Annoyed that Joanne wouldn't let her come into the meeting with them, Maureen instead decided to make nice with the cute secretary just outside. As they left the building, Joanne confronted Maureen about her flirtatious escapades and expressed how annoyed she was. Maureen used the chance to propose to Joanne (after the lawyer exclaimed that all she wanted was her devotion).

Celebrating their new engagement with an elaborate party hosted by Joanne's parents, Maureen could tell her own parents were less than thrilled. After a toast is made, she went to go find something stronger. Unable to find anything stronger than champagne or wine, Maureen proceeded to hit on the bartender, complimenting her on her necklace.

Joanne subsequently called her out on her actions, which caused the two women to get in a heated argument. Fed up with Joanne's obsessive-compulsive paranoia, Maureen proclaimed that the lawyer can take her as she is or leave her. Neither of the women backed down and the entire engagement party watched as they finished yelling at each other and stormed off, breaking the engagement.

Supernatural Abilities:
Maureen has no supernatural abilities, or any of the stuff like you see in movies.

Natural Abilities:
She is, however, skilled at a few things. She knows how to get a person wrapped around her fingers and lead them along for as long as she's having fun with them. Even when they start to doubt her, she's able to pout at them and make things better. She's an extremely adept flirt, often handing out her number several times in one day and getting even more phone numbers. She has the ability to make someone feel like they're the only person in the world that matters, apart from her, and can keep them in love with her long after she cheats on them and dumps them for the next cute body that walks by.

Possessions: Maureen wouldn’t admit to it if you were to ask her, but she still has her engagement ring on a necklace around her neck. She has

First-person POV journal sample:
[Still getting the hang of this phone. . . But that doesn’t stop the woman from panning out the video before bringing it closer to her face. She’s grinning brightly and has her head tilted to the side.]

Totally didn’t expect that change of scenery, but maybe a good vacation is what I needed from New York. So! Who do I have to make out with to find out what’s going on?

Third-person POV rp sample:
Chicago. Maureen wasn’t nearly as familiar with the city as she was with New York. Nearly meaning that she wasn’t familiar with it at all. The performance artist never had the time or money to actually visit the city, despite being more than eager about doing so someday. Turns out that day was today. Maureen slowly smoothed out her leather pants and looked around.

It was dead as a ghost town, and she knew better than to think that was normal. It was never normal for any city. Still, that phone that she found after arriving. . . Maureen stared down at it and toyed with it for just a moment before choosing a direction to head. She’d find out what had happened, find a few people to help lift her mood a little, then successfully forget about her fight with Joanne.

She’d hate to have her perfect vacation away from New York ruined by obsessing over her anal retentive ex-fiancee, after all.
