That was one of the best weekends I've had in a while. The Keg Ride was fantastic and made me feel healthy and young and surrounded by wonderful friends. Saturday, I watched the Super Bowl (again) and then played pinochle with my best friend, her dad, and her fiancee, all of whom are first-class human beings. Sunday I woke Stacy up with breakfast in bed, did some stuff around the house and made an epic grocery shopping trip, then cooked yummy Indian food and had a wedding-planning session with said best friend and her affianced. I get to address their invitations, which makes a writing/typography nerd like me very happy. Next Saturday we'll go out and try on wedding gowns (her) and bridesmaid gowns (me). I am pretty sure I'll do the predictable thing and cry, but we've talked about our weddings since we were six and to be a part of making it actually happen makes me feel blessed.

Such weekends are needed to offset the OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT NEXT quality of work these days. I'm trying to apply everything I've learned about patience and balance and staying in the moment to work, but I am no Buddhist nun, and Summer Program is some kinda whoa buddy.

I'll make it through, though, and then I get to watch my oldest, closest friend marry a wonderful person who richly deserves everything she has to give.
