on the road - update 1
i am sure some of you are wondering if matt and i are still alive. we are. :)
this will be brief because i am tired and sleepy. and the keyboard is flemish... or some such. we got in and out of russia without incident. the wedding banquet was great. russia was a social visit. we did not sightsee a whole lot. instead we went drinking every night with brits and russians. i was also nearly terminally ill.
on tuesday we flew into amsterdam and picked up our camper on wednesday. we did not at all see the city and drove on to belgium right away. we will return to amsterdam in the winter.
since then we spent nearly two days at a camper site settling into our new home. it is quite nice, cozy but with ample space still.
today we are in antverpen, sightseeing. i will fill in colorful details later. we only walked around the city and went to the cathedral, but twice - first for the sightseeing and then later at night to hear a concert performed on a 1657 organ. in addition, eurogames are going on. it seems we are in the middle of it here.
tonight we found a free parking lot on the river, very close to the center of the old city, only a 15 minute walk away. they allow campers and there is a fleet of them hanging out. we will save on camper fees and get to be in the thick of it from the morning on.
