Matt had been going over the files that Mello had already sent him over the message boards, as well as programming another backup handheld computer. It took a bit more concentration than he usually devoted to anything, but that was what he needed right now. He didn't need to think about the video he'd found of Claire being led into the labs. He didn't need to think about how all her information was simply taken off the manifest and replaced with this new version's ID. And he definitely didn't need to think about the fact that there was another Claire here, who didn't remember anything.

So he got distracted by busywork, to the point where he didn't even hear Mello knock the first time. But the second knock managed to get his attention.

"Right, I'm coming," Matt announced. He slid his goggles back over his eyes before he got up and opened the door. "Sure you got it all?" he asked, looking at the files in Mello's hands. He just left the door open so Mello could walk in.

"Are you actually asking me if I brought all of the information?" Mello rolled his eyes visibly before walking in, and closed the door behind him, but to humor the red head he answered. "Yes, I brought it all."

Walking around the room, he frowned at the mess Matt was working among, "Don't you know how to clean? Honestly, this place smells like the inside of a gym bag." Lying slightly he pinched his nose closed with one of his gloved fingers to push the point across; he walked over to the couch and sat down. It was his own way of attempting to start a conversation; it felt slightly awkward for him to be the one to cheer the other up, when he wasn't the cheering up type.

"Your desk looks like a tornado hit it."

Matt just shrugged at the first comment. It had just been an immediate response, more an awkward greeting than a real question. He grabbed his desk chair and swivelled the seat to face Mello before sitting down himself.

"It's not that bad," Matt responded, rolling his eyes right back. Sure, his desk was a mess, and he had dumped his crew uniform on the ground instead of the laundry bin, but for the most part the room was clean. He had a feeling Sylar would go crazy if the place was a mess. His roommate's desk and most of the room was always rather painfully neat.

"Thought you would like this," Matt said. He reached back to the pile on his desk and pulled out a chart. It was one of the pages that Hotaru had written up. "Already started looking through it. I was going to work on a program that could analyse the data from this."

Mello raised his eyebrow, interested in this program Matt was talking about, he could always count on him to get a job done but he had started a lot quicker this time, perhaps he should have his heart broken more often, he thought. It was a hateful thing to say, in his head even, so he decided against saying it out loud, even Mello had tact.

"Good job, less work for us if it actually works." He mentioned, kicking his boots off, it was rude to keep them on in some ones room, at least he thought so. Removing his gloves one by one, he slid his hand inside his jacket, before taking it off, and pulled out a bar of chocolate Billy had manifested for him.

Shrugging the jacket off, he put it to the side of the couch before unwrapping the bar. "I'm guessing by the look of your room, your roommate is the clean type? I know you enough to have been shocked at how actually clean this room looks, that's nothing like you."

The program wasn't even near finished yet--Matt had just been thinking of ways to make it work. It would require a lot of calculation, and would depend what kind of information they got from the files. But in the long run hopefully it would cut down on the amount of time it took to come up with patterns and test simulations. "I should be able to get it working soon," he said.

As much as he hated working, it was ironically the best distraction right now. With videogames his mind could wander--there were very few games that could hold his full attention. But working on a program, or a couple things at once, kept him more focused. It was probably a terrible coping strategy, but Matt really didn't care. Besides which, this was work that had to be done.

"Sylar," Matt answered, nodding. "Apparently watchmakers are arses for organization." It didn't really bother him, but it was an easier thing to complain about than the 'reforming serial killer' problem.
