Riku would get there, give him a few seconds.

Kairi was anxious, smiling because she couldn't contain it, ready to cry just because she was so relieved. When she'd woken up, she'd really thought they might be dead. She was always the one to be kept out of harm's way, and that was always-- always because of them. They were her guardian angels, and she wouldn't have been there on that space craft in the first place if they hadn't been around. She was connected to them. There was no possibility that they could be separated forever. Not even the forces of the universe had succeeded ( ... )

He hadn't missed Riku leaning against the wall, once he was standing there and expecting him but he wondered how he hadn't seen him on his way over. Boy, he was getting more and more absent-minded each day, wasn't he? Sora didn't even have to time to greet Kairi, because once he turned to face her and grin, Riku was forcing him inside by his collar.

It was sudden, but he didn't whine.

Not even when he was involved in an awkward, Riku-initiated hug. He fell into it with ease and tried to get an arm around each of them.

This wasn't home but maybe it could become one, for now. He missed the Islands and everyone on them, but he had Riku and Kairi, and the two of them made everything better. He grinned again and looked up at the older male, before turning to Kairi.

"I think he really was pouting." Leave it to him to ruin the moment or get himself punched. Maybe even both.

She almost hadn't been expecting Riku to have already been there. Sora said he was two floors below them, right? And then it hit her. The moment she'd said her room number, Riku had started on his way up, hadn't he? Every little thing he was doing was showing her that he was worried sick. Even if he didn't know he was doing it, Kairi could tell from his actions. He was so easy to see through sometimes. Even if she wasn't expecting the arm to slide around her shoulder ( ... )

Sora hadn't been aware of how much he missed this. Small talk between them. Playful comments. It had only been a couple of days, hardly any cause for the kind of relief he was feeling. Life had been great, knowing he could settle back beside his best friends, and having it ripped away and brought back made him appreaciate them more.

He felt Kairi's hand in his shirt and smiled, managing to duck a bit when Riku's hand met the back of his head. Dulling the expected impact -the one that didn't come. That was new. He must've been happy, to let that remark go with only verbal retaliation.

There was no remark of his own, just the sappy grin. He was relishing in the embrace, while he still could, because it was only a matter of time before one of them broke it.

Kairi would not be the one to do so. She was still recovering from the initial shock of the incident, and had a ways to go yet. Clinging to them was the best she could do right now. It made her feel safe, at home, protected from anything this new place might have to offer as far as danger went.

The girl looked up at Riku and smiled, finding herself laughing a bit once again. It was impossible to keep a straight face with them around. She would always be grateful for that.

"But I bet it was funnier when you did it. Sora pouts all the time."

"I do not," he argued. Two against one made it a lost cause, but that didn't stop him from trying. He couldn't just sit back and let them say these things about him!

Sora rolled his eyes at Riku, who was making himself at home and spared another glance at Kairi. "And he calls us lazy bums."

He was getting a smart mouth on him, though it hardly rivaled most people. Still, it was a step up for him, from what he had been.

The room wasn't any different than his own. Sora had thought the girls' cabins would differ in some way, but they were the same standard-issued stuff. It felt empty, but he figured making it more like home with posters or some kind of decoration was out of the question.

Kairi wouldn't care if the room was the same as every other one. With her living there, there would obviously end up being a sort of difference, eventually. She was a girl, after all, and there was no stopping a girl from decorating her room according to her personal tastes. As much of a tomboy as she could act, and as easy as she would get her hands dirty and have fun with it, she still liked pink, shopping, playing with Riku's hair, and pop music.

She let out a small giggle at the comment about Riku being lazy, knowing it to be true. They were all a little lazy sometimes, and she could understand the older boy's mood right now. After the scare they'd gone through, thinking something had happened to her, the relief would put down even the most energetic of their friends from all over the universe. Then again, it would make some people bounce off the walls.

These walls didn't seem like they'd be too comfortable...
